When did CB500's become worth loads?

Despite the low mileage that is still an old bike, he’s having a laugh at that price. loads more you could get for that money.

I emailed him and told him April Fools day has been and gone

I don’t think he knows a lot about bike judging from the description:

This car was owned by my father-in-law who sadly passed away.
he owned it since Sep 2006

Oh dear - looks like he’s another one of those numbnuts who thinks…

…It’s old therefore it’s a classic therefore it’s worth £££loads…

No it’s just old - take a look at the other CB500s on Ebay going for £900 max…

he’s probably thinking… “wow so many views on Ebay, I’m sure to get a bite :D”

Would love to meet the fool who shells out the cash for that one!

The value is in the Top Box. It’s a dead rare one - worth £2999.00

Price is a little “ambitious”… I wouldn’t be suprised if a main stealer would be asking good money for one that clean, but probably still not that much… Please do respect that a. he’s sufferred a bereavement, and b. may not know much about bike values.

My thoughts entirely.

It’s easy for us to know the value of things down to stuff like a clutch lever but for a novice or someone dealing with the fallout of a death it could be a minefield. Could have just looked in a dealers for a price or even based it on what the former owner thought / said it was worth and most of us are guilty of adding a few quid to our pride and joy at time  - they could be trying to pay the costs of a funeral etc - we just don’t know (I’m not trying to make people feel bad here)

The only real way that they’ll get the message over will be that no one will buy it. If someone buys it fair play to them

Of course they could be trying it on but I doubt it - surely they’d select a better bike for a start.

Maybe its got Dymag wheels

I think there is £2K in the top box that needs laundering.

Well it’s good to see fair play in defending him but he is an experienced Ebayer of many years - I can’t believe he didn’t type ‘CB500’ in the search field to see what the going rate is or view completed listings to see what they actually sold for.

I think you’re giving him too much credit - plus he has several negative feedbacks from buyers over the years for shoddy service / bad goods - I don’t think I would trust him as a seller.

If I was a betting man I would say he’s trying it on.

At the bottom of the listing:

"any question please contact me
i dont need to know “its priced to much”

Yeah I noticed that Slacker. The listing has been edited and a Make An Offer button has been added now…

Heh, he received your email then.

Not me must have been someone else.

Could buy a brand spanking new CB500N for £4650. £1400 depreciation over 12 years going by his pricing isn’t bad though!

 He really is not the brightest bulb on the tree is he?

If he was going to ask a mega dream price he should at least stick to his guns in case a wealthy CB500 obsessed looney happened along to pay it - Now he’s telling everyone who views the ad “I’ve had lots of emails telling me they think it’s overpriced”…

…that’s really going to get a punter to reach for his chequebook…:Whistling:
