What's that stuff called?

It’s the stuff you put on the inside of nuts so that they don’t slip up the bolt with vibrations of the bike. Normally blue gunk I think?

Loctite

thread lock

Cheers ears

bananas. Or more formally, Loctite.

Also it comes in red or blue depending on the application. Don’t use the red if you want to undo your bolts in future :slight_smile:

Take care out there, Loctitie has more thread lock products than you could shake a stick at. What you want is Loctite 243 it has a breakaway strength of around 26Nm ideal for anything you’ll be wanting to disassemble at a later stage with the spanners.

What's the chance of it drying up inside the bottle before you use it all up?

I love a challenge. Anyone need me to come and make their nuts sticky?

I don’t think its a lot… Probably more pee wee herman than hulk

:joy::joy::joy:

Ditto

26Nm (19 lbs ft) is more than enough to eliminate things going AWOL due to vibration. Proper useful for steel machined bolts entering aluminium casings! Not so useful on pressed threads since it relies on tight tolerances to fully set. Note too even the fast setting formulae requires 24 hours to fully cure.

The cheap as chips 3ml bottle will last the average DIY’er a decade or more, what on earth are you going to do with 50ml?

Shakes head.

How about using modelling glue, like Airfix?
