Good clip that, always worth reminding yourself. Cheers
Only thing I would add is this.
If the person is not breathing, you have to remove the helmet to get them breathing. There is so much stigma attached to removing a helmet, especially amongst motorcyclists themselves, but if you not breathing, you going to die. If the person is not breathing, be prepared to take the helmet off, do it carefully and do it with someone else so that you have them supporting the head so that it doesn’t fall, but if it needs to be done, you have to do it.
Way we were taught is that one person creates a fist and places it so that the fleshy part of your palm is on the bottom and thumb at the top, you place this under the head, and then you have to sit there with it under the head until the ambulance arrives. This keeps the neck straight and minimises the chances of neck injury.
Good clip, its good to have a reminder what to do.
just remember if u have to remove the helmet do so with minimal spinal movement
Nah Jimbo, never remove the helmet unless you’re trained, seriously, there’s NO way to get them off safely without proper training.
Anyone whose done FBOS will say the same, ACT for the scene, DRAB for the treatment for a more comprehensive version…
D - Danger
R - Response (from any injured)
A - Airways
B - Breathing at all…
Only them’s that fail all of them last three require drastic action, but if you aren’t properly trained AND assisted, you can do more damage than good… look in this vid, when the cops AND medics are attending in the background. There’s about 6 JUST to turn him over…
No disrespect meant mate, just know what you’re doin, don’t just leap in!
If they’re not breathing, spinal injuries are the least of their worries. Not breathing = helmet off whether you’re trained or not then begin CPR. There’s no point on protecting the spine on a corpse and if they ain’t breathing you’re not going to make them any worse!
