The thing that gets on my tits is when people filter to the front with decent proficiency but then stop at the front, leaving everyone stuck behind them between cars.
GET OUT OF THE WAY! Move to the side so other people can get in front too!

Agreed!
thin ice mate, thin ice
Big GS riders are a breed apart, nothing come close to the attitude !
They’re not real bikers, they’re people who have enough money to buy a status symbol
Similarly see car owners vs Ferrari owners…
They’re the herd to the celebrity life style religion… its like women and Posh Spice or Jennifer Annistons haircuts… they’ve no idea why they chose the monsters, they did because some celeb endorsed it making it acceptabl;e for them. I’m not denying htey’re awesome to ride, but would you twat your Ferrari round london roads, or would you nurse it round cos the repair billls are horrific and you want it to retain value for trade in time… see, not real “London” riders… filtering is naturally a no no
Well my son calls them King Di&k’s
As some also have a smug smile on their face look at me look at me!
But that is his personal opinion, no offensive or any one to be upset by his comments.
Today I was filtering on Tiger, 1st time in my life on that bike, and it was quite nice to filter (as bars and mirrors ar more likely above car mirrors). I understand GS is bigger but not by much.
What really gets me is sort of b…h who follows you 1-2 meter behind you when you filter, so I always let him go first and show me how to filter, 9 out of 10 slows down all filtering because they don’t feel confident enough to be a 1st in the line. It is so much easier to be second or third bike

TFFT, another bimmerman ![]()
I don’t think you can put the s1000 in with the rest of the BMW range.
The GS crew can fack off back to Berkhampstead. Long Way To Work. Supposed to be dirt bikes aren’t they… 90% of them have never seen a scrap of dirt in their life.
As for people that don’t move out the way when you’re filtering… Yea it is annoying but try to lay off them a bit - they often don’t realise they are doing it because they’re concentrating on the road ahead. Different people ride at different levels. Just find another way around them if they’re holding you up.

+1 Yep let someone else be the pathfinder - not only is this much, much more relaxing - the pressures off you to make the best pace - but it’s safer.
The car driver has already seen him so you can follow through with them already pre-warned that there are bikes about…cynically if the cagers want to pull out on someone it will be him - not you.
Lastly if he does get stuck you don’t feel it’s your fault - you can look round at the bike behind you and raise your eyebrows as if to say “Huh that bloke in front eh???” ![]()
A Tiger Evilb? - Hats off you are obviously a person of taste, quality and distinction! ![]()
You’ve obviously mistaken me with someone else :D.

Sorry I thought, when you wrote;
“Today I was filtering on Tiger,”
You meant you were filtering on a , err…, Tiger … How daft of me!
Still a Street Triple R!
Even more taste, quality and distinction!
Hats AND socks off to you there! :D:cool:
I suppose it’s been a while since we had one of these threads…
I’d suggest anyone moaning about filtering on a BMW GS should give it a try first and then complain (a bit).
You shouldn’t be blaming the bike - it can’t break the laws of physics but is capable in traffic from what I’ve seen.

I did turn up to a BMW owners night on the S1000… and was the only one as everyone was pretty much on Gs’s. Your all correct, those guys burn my arse!

I see this a lot… I try to only filter to the front if there is a safe space and that if there are bikes behind I try to let them get forward too especially if there are trucks / buses etc.
Yes I was filtering on Triumph Tiger, one day swap when my bike was in service.
And well now I’m really worried about your mental health. Are you sure you took the right pills today? I haven’t heard/read someone calling taste, quality, distinction in same sentence as EvilBlade for ages. So it must be bike but it is a normal bike, just damn good.
Back to topic, our friend Arfa on his blog wrote nice article about filtering, that is essence what do or don’t if you filter. Problem with GS is their riders ability, but my second favourite group are riders with side boxes I have to admit I have seen one or two who were brave/stupid enough to be quick but in general same as most of GS’es, slow blocking space between the lanes.

Yer right I’m on something … A blend of optimism, pure joy and love of life in general and bikes in particular!
No my point is why just ride any old bike when you can ride something that’s a GREAT bike, Street Triple is in that catagory in my opinion - many others are just “Grey Porridge on 2 Wheels”…and it ain’t got anything to do with size or bhp either matey.
But then again SOME people think I’m mad - but I trust and believe the reverse is true!
:hehe:
I would suggest that if you cant overtake a filtering GS then you are doing something wrong.
Remember in every madness there is a grain of a genius.

i think my very first post on LB was this exact topic - i got told to **** off basically, so I’m glad things are progressing nicely
LOL Zeepony - yes about your fourth topic - http://londonbikers.com/forums/708107//GS-Rider-Holier-than-thou
I loved Tobis response in that thread! Awesome!
