No more nails .

+1 to no more nails.

Put a bit of masking tape over the wall & socket first though to stop it get covered in goop.

cheers folks

No more nails is good but Grip Fill is far stronger.

I thought I’d heard it all …

No place like the inter webby for dodgy advice, are you really contemplating glueing an electrical outlet to the wall?

FFS, plug and screw it, if the walls dodgy from some previous fixings repair the wall then plug and screw it.

if the socket holder is too deep in wall for socket you can buy longer screws from any DIY store or if the thread is gone a bit of ptfe tape on the screw will work better than no nails

Don’t be a pillock.

You should not be messing about with electrical outlets. It should be refastened to the wall in the correct manner.

We’re talking about the screws that hold the pattress box to the wall, hence the question about sticking the plastic plug socket to the painted wall, answer DON’T …

Repair the wall to offer a good fixing then plug and screw the pattress box to the wall, proper job’

If, and I doubt it’s the case, the anchor points for the screws that hold the fascia plate to the pattress box have failed then replace the pattress box.

If in doubt consult a qualified Electrician, bodge electrics and you’re messing with peoples lives!

+1 to repairing the wall properly first

I don’t think from what he said he will be doing anything with wires . Just wants it to stop jiggling around . I would just pack and glue … like I did here … with a sparky sitting on the couch saying " yeah that will be fine "

He wants to remount the surface plastic pattress box.

So he should either preferably repair the wall first. Or he could get larger wall plugs & screws if the ones he has there are spinning in the holes and the wall isn’t too badly damaged… Being a sparks, I advocate the ‘Do it properly’ route, rather than ‘bodge it’ route… :ermm:

Didnt expect such a debate. If it was anything to do with wires I would not touch it. I am piss poor with that stuff and know it. Always call a professional when needed.

The issue is the area behind the socket is waaay too deep from whoever fitted it initially. I will look for some longer screws and see if that works. I will also need to re fasten the plugs the screws go in to.

Temp fix of no nails is what i have done for now and dont see why that would be an issue. It is literally sticking the plastic casing in place. Not messing with the electrics.

Appreciate the help and comments.

My sparky is of the wild industrial heavy armour and tray variety who has a serious hate of working in peoples houses or any houses … hutch work as he calls it :hehe: . So he is probably a bit more brutal than a domesticated spark ?

If it’s longer screws you were after any decent iron monger should do them. I have had to use a good few after having my bedroom retanked and the boxes were glued quite deep into the wall. They were glued as you cant screw into a tanked wall.

That’s cool, I used to do the same thing, Industrial/commercial plant maint etc as well as the odd domestic… Got fed up of it & and fell into TV… lol :hehe:

What colour is the wall Stuno?

Oh Christ! The Jetstreams are here.

Brace yourself for some left fiels questions, like “What colour is the wall?”

OK, Old Guy, colours may not be your thing.

I`m more of a free thinker.

Screws, brass or steel.?

Im thinking replacing all Stunos sockets, would Graphite, Georgian Brass, or workaday white suit his decor best.
