Well it has happened....

Happily riding along on my way to my motorbike maintenance class this evening when a stupid woman driver in a courtesy car pulled out in front of me. I had slowed down for the junction because I could see a car waiting but she pulled out quickly whilst looking in the other direction. I had to brake and before I knew it I was on the ground with my leg under the bike. Thankfully my dainese boot protected me well so I’m just bruised and pissed off…because we were going to do clutch cables today!
Eventually the bint got out of the car and someone else realised that she wasnt going to pick the bike up off my leg so came to help too.
Luckily for me a random guy appeared out of nowhere to hand me a piece of paper with his witness contact details on it and another guy also gave me his details too.
Should be back on the road soon.
I am just so pleased that it wasn’t worse!

glad to hear youre ok - lucky about the witnesses too!
Dont forget about all the aches and pains when filling in the forms! :w00t:

Take it easy.

Glad to hear you are ok hun . Any damage to the bike ?

Damn- glad you’re OK - and have witnesses.

Wonder why she was in a courtesy car in the first place ? :Whistling:

So sorry to hear this Anita. Hope you aren’t too bruised and aching tomorrow - just glad to hear that you are OK. How’s the bike?

Best wishes

J&Cxx

Ouch. How terrible for you… but I’m glad you’re still in one piece.

Did she admit fault?

As long as your ok - that’s the main thing - bikes are a lot easier to fix than people. Make sure she pays for all the damage.

That sucks!!

Glad to hear you’re OK though, hope the woman pays up without a fuss, good on the guys to help out being witnesses, at least you’ll be able to fix the bike yourself!

Let me know if you need anything, I hope you’re not too sore. :pinch:

Sorry to hear this but glad you’re ok, I hope your bike wasn’t too damaged.

Glad ur ok… take it easy tomorrow though… ur more important than the bike… without u, its not going anywhere!

ouch…

glad your ok tho!..

its horrible out there at the moment, i have been riding like a saint…anything causing you to brake fast or swerve is an off in these conditions, not much you can do…stooopid cager…they just dont realise how much weather condiotions effect bikers!!

did she admit responsibilty?

glad to hear ur ok!! hope the bike wasn’t damaged

She did admit responsibility and was very apologetic…but not willing to give that in writing! Lol
She did say it in front of one of the witnesses though.
I was probably only doing about 20-25mph so the damage is mainly cosmetic. I will need to fix the brake pedal and replace the right mirror before I can ride it properly…but it could cost about a grand to replace rather then repair all the scratched stuff ie the whole right side!
My car was reversed into in June and the insurance for that still hasn’t been sorted out so my main concern tonight was ensuring I had witnesses. They were all asking if I was hurt and needed an ambulance and I was worried about the bike and witnesses!!!

Aawww hinny, welcome to the group. Been there myself cos of some dizzy bint. Hope you heal fast and get the bike sorted. If you need any help with anything just shout.

TBH, if its anything like the incident I had with the lorry you should get the bike sorted quite quickly as her Insurance will send you to a garage of their choice once you’ve had quotes.

I’d also contact Rider Support: 0208 246 4900. They helped Dave out a few years ago and were ready to aid me if needed. They were impressed I’d got such a high amount out of Sainsburys and said it was more than they’d expected.

I’ve sent you my number in case you need ought.

if teh witnesses are true to there word that will be enough:)

i had an off in october, driver pulled out on me too, accepted full resposiblity straight away, i got a courtesy bike, and i got it all dealt with fast, that was with her insurance(driver) norwich union, i called them every few days to see what was happening, was all sorted in 2-3weeks, you shouldl push for you bike to repaired fully back to what it was-tho it depends what its worth against what it will cost to repair ie it may be written off if teh repair cost is too high, and a courtsey bike so you can get around while its repaired. i know i would.

i was teh same after my off, i tried to pick my bike up but my knee gave way, i had just dented a BMW with it tho:D
i had witnesses but i didnt need them, the driver was in the wrong, i was doing about 25-30… it hurts dunnit! :pinch: at least your still with us!

get on the insurance company’s case asap:)

Oooooo :pinch: sorry to hear about the off, but as long as you are ok that is the main thing.

Nice to have witness running out and giving you their details! Very usual in my experience.

Make sure you go to see a doctor - you need to get everything checked out.

blimmin 'eck - glad you’re ok hun. It really is dangerous out there right now - that’s why my bike is staying locked up in hibernation until it improves.

Do doctors see a different doctor or just see themselves??? Whichever it is - do it and definitely give Rider Support Services a call. DOn’t bother with your insurance companies solicitors - they’re normally crap. I’m still waiting for my 1st accident that happened almost 2 years ago to be sorted, even though there’s no question about liability

Sorry to hear about your incident, i hope you are not so sore this morning?

Get onto the insurance company as soon as poss and tell them you have witness details and that you need the bike to get to work, hopefully theu will get an assesor out quick sharp.

Sorry to hear about your off, but glad you had all the right gear to protect you

Definitely get onto the insurance and everything very quickly, follow up with the witnesses and make sure she admits responsibility through her insurance company. It is probably very likely that she (or more likely either the insurance company on her behalf) is going to contest this…unfortunately…
