Back down again in London this coming weekend - and would love to join in a ride out (one of Tim’s would be ideal if he is organising something) either Sat or Sun. Am wanting a fairly sedate pace (I don’t generally do above 90mph folks;) ) - not bothered whereabouts.
Emsee - Martin - I know you are training at the moment so not riding so much, but if you are about for one of our usual Box Hill runs, cool. If anyone else is up for a random sedate-ish run this weekend, either PM or stick down a reply to this.
Well am now having a nice little Box Hill ride with Blue Lagos on the Friday 15th, so Sunday 17th might be the best date for ride out number two, just so the old bones can have a rest and do other stuff on Saturday.
So anyone around Sunday 17th (or Friday if you fancy joining me and Nick for a lanes bimble) cool
Geoff B also said he is interested in coming on a ride:)
Meeting Nick at Rykas on Friday at around 10.30 / 11 ish for a fairly sedate paced ride. I’ll also be at Box Sunday (as most people work Friday) but not decided on an exact time yet. Should be mid / late morning.
I will try and force the Lane Guru Emsee to come on Sunday as he knows all the roads:) Although I think he is busy with training and other things at present. If not you might have to rely on my appalling sense of direction.
I ride a Black Triumph Street Triple 675, will be wearing black bike clothes and a white lid and I have long dark hair.
So should be fairly easey peasey to spot me unless there are other women on exactly the same bikes with white helmets and dark hair. If there are, maybe go up to each of them and say 'are you Hels? (Hopefully there won’t be more than one Hels).
Are you coming Sunday or Friday?
I aim not to lead ride outs where possible, given my lack of navigation skills, but if there are only one or two people with maps then that’s fine.
There is a sticky on here saying where is Box Hill - it’s just basically straight down the A23 to Dorking and it’s sign posted. The lanes around there are good for cornering practice - there are some fairly twistie routes.
Indian Fazer also PMed to ask to come on Sunday:)!! Cool:cool: The sad thing is, I have been riding round Box Hill lanes since 2005 when I had my cb250 and used to go all around there with my mate Jacob on his KTM - it was quite an ill matched combination of bikes:) Since then have also gone on many rides with Emsee and others round those lanes. But can I remember any of the routes I have been on over the years? NO!!!
So we need a navigator - please bear with me and I will do some investigations and offer some bribes:D
If you’re coming Tim there will be a ride - as you can lead it:) If I am leading there will be a ride of sorts, but it might end up at Strangeways or somewhere equally random.
I am hoping Blue Lagos will lead Friday (looks like there’s only going to be me and him now, so won’t be hard - all he will have to do is wait for me at the junctions:D)
How much to join us at Box Tim R Sunday and do either Geoff B’s route which he PMed or do your own route with us following? We can negotiate rates:) So far there looks like a possible 3 or 4 people which might be fun
Oh and the Rykas Box Hill map is on this link - it’s not the A23 sorry - it’s straight down the A24 towards Dorking - keep on the A24 until you reach a big roundabout with the turn off to the Old London Road and that’s where Rykas is. If you get lost find some bikers and they will tell you where it is.
What time are you thinking of for Sunday Helen ? At the moment i’m down for a ride leaving Boxhill at 8.00 am !!! Sure they won’t miss me if i bailed. Have a think on time, distance and maybe even if you want a lunch stop, and i’ll be more than happy to lead the way.
I’s say getting to Box around 10.30 / 11 ish - it’s Sunday so don’t want to leave at crack of dawn We could do lunch at the Devil’s Punchbowl again if you like or another suitable place and do some nice open roads as well as windy ones.
Don’t bail on your ride if you want to go on it, but if not - cool. It will be nice to see you again. It would be great to have Tim along who can help lead if he likes, and Diaz and maybe Indian Fazer looks like they are coming. So it will be a small group.
It might be Devils Dyke you’re thinking of…providing you promise not to chuck your phone down the toilet !!! Shoreham Airport’s not too bad for a light lunch or the Roedean cafe by the sea near Brighton. All in the same area or there abouts. Hope the weather’s kind to us.
Well I’ve got a little old crap phone now - the nice new posh BlackBerry eventually died after its swim Cool - sounds like a plan is forming as we speak!!
Oh and the link I attached earlier is the wrong one - shows the top of Box Hill. Best thing Diaz79 is just to google Rykas Cafe rather than Box and it will show you. It’s pretty easy to find. I tend to join the A24 at Balham south London and stay on it all the way down.
Is it alright for an LB newbee to join in. I’ll see who has the shortest route and decide . My rearsets kill my knees after about 75 miles without a stop .:crying:
Mesage to myself . " Act you age and put standard pegs back on " :Whistling:
