My bike came with wavy discs as standard and the brakes are simple awesome but like you, I can’t see how the wavy bit helps braking, it is effectively taking disc area away from the pads. Have heard it said that the wave adds surface area but I think that’s ****** as the area of metal taken away is greater than that added by the wave.
I suspect it’s more to do wth less weight in which case I’ve completely ruined the effect by eating a whole tub of ice creme last night :w00t:
they were designed for motoX to clear mud and crap out better, the fact that they work better on a sports bike was an accidental find (prob cos some ponce thought they’d look good on his gixxer)lighter ‘unsprung’ weight still makes a diff, even if you eat more pie:P they’re supposed to run cooler, and have greater inital bite (not from personal experience tho)
They are designed to have more edge and surface area so they can run cooler, also they cool down quicker!
Why some of you might think!!??
One main ingredient to stop you having brake fade. As they run cooler when pushed the surface area of the brake pad runs more efficient with slightly less wear to the pad.
