OEM? No way. I run sintered race pads.
I have heard that these cheaper waveys can get chewed up by sintered pads, just an observation:)
Hope they good Jay, but sense a “my discs warped in 2 weeks” post soon…hope I’m proved wrong - then i can get some too!
I have noticed these on ebay for the last cpl of months, They look top in the pics. ‘The Hong kong’ bit put me off, really interested to see how you get on with them!!
Be contemplating them for a while!!
Good luck
I believe there is a lot of people waiting to see if those hong kong discs are any good, am I wrong?
Let us know mate how they behave.
Got them on yet???
been away so missed this…dont know the manufacturer, dont know the material, but made in China…not good at all…everything I have had made or bought in china has been almost complete crap…metal things just crumbling in my hand, bars that should carry a man bending under the weight of a boy etc etc etc they cheat, dont understand metallurgy and likely the carbon content and any other additives will be wrong for the job…so since these are about saving your life I would be very wary Jay…
Have they even been tempered correctly at all…heating by use and slow cooling will do nothing to help, to ‘temper’ a piece of steel you have to rapid cool it from something like 1500 degrees c to turn the carbon into crystals to give it hardness etc etc…and the amount of carbon depends upon how hard or soft you want it…and I doubt reputable manufacturers guess this figure…
Sorry to be the harbinger of doom but they build mostly crap in China right now, they are changing but its unmanaged production mostly, unchallenged by rules or regulations and therefore very very unreliable…thats if its a no name supplier…so please be careful with them…they could just crumble on your bike when you most need them…
They’ve been fine so far and have seen some hard use. I’m happy with them. If they have any problems, I’ll post them here.
Hard use as in a trackday or just fast road use Mr? Kinda fancy a set.
Road so far.
Okay…this one really puzzles me.
Glad to hear that the wavey discs seem to be Jay. Braking systems = important items so need to be sure of…
My contention and confusion comes from the fact that you would buy wavey discs from a non-brand, quality supplier in the first place.
Wavey discs IMO = Bling
Bling by its very nature is luxury goods, unnecessary, just there for show and effect.
Therefore if buying bling for a bike, why not show that you have the readies to pimp that ride and buy the Braking or Galfers.
Bling on a budget must be the most pointless thing ever n’est pas? scratches head
If I was in a knob-waving contest, I would have a 1098-R on order by now
I mod my bike for my own tastes. I like the look of the waveys and more importantly they have improved braking power.
If I was going hardcore on the braking front then I would be running Brembo mono-bloc calipers with fully-floating SBK Brembo discs (which I actually had with my 750 but never ran on the road). I don’t yet need that level of braking power as I’m not using all the power I have available so am perfectly happy with this upgrade.
After a few more trackdays though, you never know, it could be a full Brembo solution.
I’ve never been one for buying a brand just because of other peoples perceptions on quality and the like.
the bling factor would only last as long as he kept his helmet on so not worth it
JAY DO U STILL AV THE SELLERS ACCOUNT NAME ??? my front discs are warped
i`ve seen some on there aswell but not sure if there from the same place so not sure bout parting with the dosh cheers
durrrr i should read the whole thread silly me :hehe:
With these ur a winner all round,
-Improved Braking.
-Cheap
&
-Looks the ******!!!
I’ve got some coming over from HK @ the mo:w00t::):D:P
LoL
How does that work then?
I’ve fitted a rear wavey to my Project Storm but thats just for the bling innit:cool:
Braking is sharper, i.e. more initial bite. Suits my tastes. Power is up as well though I think that’s as much down to replacing worn discs with new ones as anything else.
oddly my braking wasn’t so sharp this morning when i came to brake hard for a side road junction and overshot itsomeone had changed the roll-a-click settings on my brake lever. pesky kids eh jay
