My motorcycle wearing attire tends to be made up of…
Textiles to wear in the winter months and wetter days, mainly for commuting. Leathers to wear on track days, or when the riding situation allows (just going out for a blast on a sunny day). And mesh jacket and Kevlar lined jeans for other occasions (summer commute). A packable waterproof one-piece I can take on longer rides (weekends etc) during the summer; to go over anything non waterproof.
I’m thinking of getting some touring leathers, which I can also use on a commute. There are a few products which have come into the market in the last few years or so that are ‘waterproof’ touring leathers, and wondered if anyone had any experience of them?
HELD
HELD are known to me for making good motorcycle gloves and I have heard good things about their leathers
The Quattrotempi Rezzato Gore-Tex leather jacket comes in at £800 and the Quattrotempi 5060 Gore-Tex leather trousers at £650
Hein Gerick
Are similarly priced to the HELD at £800 for the jacket and £700 for the trousers, Hein Gerick offer the Tour Cool Gore-Tex suit. Sometimes build quality can be a little suspect on Hein Gerick stuff, and the all important part of any waterproof material like Gore-Tex are the seams, so these need to be checked for where they are placed and how well they are taped. But Hein Gerick do have good customer service in their favour, so far as returns are concerned.
Dianese
Have the Verbier Pelle Gore-Tex jacket at £620 and the Verbier Pelle Gore-Tex trousers at £400. Sure to look nice…
Rukka – Merlin
You know Rukka stuff is going to be good but at £1,400 for the jacket and £1,200 for the trousers, making an eye watering total of £2,600 that becomes very hard to justify.
These are some that I am aware of, as there any others that you know of worth considering?
