i have a fossil watch which is water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet.
the other day i forgot & took a hot shower with it on, & now i have noticed a condensation/droplets/mist on the inside of the screen.
i thought it was water resistant?.
any suggestions on how to get this mist to fade away?.
watch is working fine.
I have had my Fossil watch since given it in September 2002. It has never shown signs of condensation despite being worn all day, left in the bathroom every night, and has got very wet several times. I have never swum in it, but might have showered in it, I can’t remember!
It has had a new battery, which I paid a watch repairer £20 to do including new seals. It has proved a good watch and would cost much more than £20 to replace with something as good.
It’s a sneaky con by watch manufacturers… if you read the little booklets they point out that water resistant means just that… resistant, not waterproof even if it’s to 50m.
I think (and I could well be wrong… there is a lot of useless info in my head and it sometimes gets muddled up) it’s a sliding scale… not water resistant, then resistant to splashes; hand washing; showering; throught to swimming (down to about 3m) and then fully waterproof (for diving).
take it to a decent jewellers/watch shop and have it dried and then a new seal fitte, sorted my citizen dive is pushing 20 .yrs old it has a battery and seal every 5 years whether it needs it or not and has spent years in sea water and showers without fault, well not quite…the animal strap rots through and has to be changed every 2 years
