Visors - Discounted visors on Amazon

I’m looking to replace the visor on my Shoei NXR helmet.

Sportsbikeshop.com and InfinityMotorcycles.com each sell these for £46.39, which I thought would be about the price, but I looked around to see if I can get it cheaper. HelmetCity.co.uk are after £57.99, but looking on Amazon I found one company selling for £28.90, and another for £11.89.

The latter (£11.89) made me then think that such a cheap price may be an really dodgy make, one that is simply not safe. However, I wonder where Shoei make their visors. Are they made in the same factory that the Amazon sellers are made, which I ask as the names of the distributors on Amazon are “luoyangshikangwenteshangmaoyouxiangongsi“ and “yuesensong“, and I’m simply paying for the brand name of Shoei?

What are your thoughts?

I’ve bought a cheap hjc visor a few years ago.

Tested it against an old genuine hjc visor with a BB gun. The cheap one didn’t do very well, I’d stick to genuine rather than trying to save money.

Are you sure you are not American?

Years ago I bought an aftermarket Arai visor, probably around 50% cheaper than official ones.

It didn’t seem especially flimsy and I wasn’t concerned about it shattering on impact but it didn’t seal as well as the original so sometimes water would run down the inside of the visor a bit.

It was generally a bit less rigid than the original too so it flexed when you opened it

£50 for a certified visor is a good price in my book. Getting a stone in the eye at 70mph because I could save a little money is a silly idea.

Nah, dude. But if I was, I’d be buying guns as well as bikes.

Why did you ask?

Was aimed at Boris for shooting his visor.

it is a very american approach

“i dont know if i trust this, ill shoot it”
