Vibration and noise from handlebars when using the front brake

anyone know what could be causing the handlebars to vibrate when i come to a stop using the front brake, there is also a noise that i can’t describe?there is no vibration when i start to brake it is only the last 6-0mph or there abouts.most likely linked to http://londonbikers.com/forums/Topic664491-58-1.aspx as it wasnt there yesterday

Warped disc ?

uneven braking? the noise may be just the holes in the disc, mine whirrs when i apply the front brake, just the holes in the disc passing the pads etc.
yours might not be that though, lol

yeah first thought too, if it is warped its not obvious

checked to make sure all the bolts are tightened correctly on calipers etc etc etc???

didnt get a chance to look at it last night and got worried on the way to work so took it into essential rubber, they reckoned it was dirty on the disc, they gave it a good clean and it seemed fine for a little while but then i could feel it again.

its in the shop 2moro for some repairs anyway so i’ll get em to check it out then for me

It sounds very similar to a problem I had.

Seemed to appear after riding in the bad weather and bike had been standing over the weekend.

ex mechanic I know instantly suggested that dirt/road salt had got into these “spacers” on the disc
He said there should be some slight movement, allowing the rotor to move when braking and there wasn’t any.

It felt like a pulsing, brakes going on and off…warped disc.

I gave them a good clean…squirt of WD40 (carefully wiped off) and a gentle tap with a mallet.

Have not had chance to test again yet…but will edit when ridden this weekend.

had the same thing was a bent disc carrier. take the calipers off tape a pen bolt or what not steady to the forks with an end flush to the disc then slowly turn the wheel to see if the disc pushes or dives check both sides.

To check if the rivots are loose just hold the brake on and pump the forks any clicking or movement will be them
