I had to ford boot-deep water on my Fazer twice on the elevated section of the A40. I felt like a complete prat, soaked to the bone. But then when I’d filtered to the front of the traffic at the depression near Park Royal (Royale Leisure Park) I was able to walk my bike up a ped path and around the 40m lake that was claiming motorists (“He didn’t make it, but I’m sure to!”). Is there anything bikes can’t do?
Forded more big puddles on the A413. A local chappie was kindly directing traffic around one at Amersham.
Anyone other stories?
I was but in the car, it took me 2 hours 20 mins to do under 30 miles! M4 had 2 lanes flooded, road I needed to take was flooded under a bridge. I sat watching cars being sacrificed one after another driving into 4 foot of water.
I was picturing little speech bubbles above their heads “Oh look, he didnt make it through a 4 foot puddle in his BMW so let me try in my Corsa”
If only I had a camera.
I wasn’t (not THAT daft!) but I know someone who went out in the car for a 4 mile round trip and the heavens opened half way - took him 2 hours to get back again!
Did go camping in Northants though. That was fun - mud up to my knees, kids with mud ALL over. Still doing the washing! But seeing a jetcar do zero to 251 in 6.1 seconds was pretty impressive…
