Tyres.... Again

Will need some new boots fairly soon, and have narrowed it down to Pilot Road 2’s or BT021’s. Both are highly rated, and i just cant decide between the two. Any thoughts or experience on either tyre?

And sorry for bringing up the dreaded what tyre thread again!!

pilot road 2’s

I hated the BTs they were squared off in 3k and nearly bald after 5k.

Pilot roads have done 6k with tons of life and shape left.

+1

I’ve had pilot road 2’s for the last 1500 plus miles and they’ve been great in all weathers.

I’ve got powers on, they’re awesome (once scrubbed in)

pilot powers had the 2ct on the front getting another set soon

I used to run with Continental Road Attacks on the K5, good feel from the tyre and decent mileage and not as expensive as the Michelins.

i had BT021 on my CBF - really good, and lasted well.

got the PR2 on the Hornet now and they are also quite good, but cant comment on the milage as i havent changed em yet

either would be fine. btw are you replacing both at the same time?

thats the same bike as me, so if you say they’re good having first hand experience on the same bike, thats really helpful!

yep, both will be changed, running dunflop d207’s at present so anything would be better!

what sort of riding did you do on the CBF?

all sorts really, mostly commuting with some weekend blasts and a couple of longer trips (e.g wales)

tires felt really confident, manages to scrape pegs a couple of times :w00t:

ahhh, i had forgotten about it being in my display pic. well thanks for the recommendation, will probably go for those.

i manage to scrape the pegs, side and centre stand on the dunflops :w00t: not the best feeling when the centre stand touches down and the rear wheel skips and you soil yourself

I changed from BT021s to Pilot road 2. On a mostly motorway commute I’m getting over 11k out of rears! Keeps their shape well too. Tons more grip and life than the BT021s.

If you haven’t already changed them I’d like to say that I’ve just changed the skins on my fazer from BT021’s, they offer good grip for a touring tyre but squared off after 5000 miles and needed replacing after 6000. That was with alot of motorway riding though. hope this helps

Another vote for Pilot Road 2.
Great in the dry, amazing in the wet, last for aaaaages.
