Triumph Daytona 650 streetfighter help

Hi, 1st post from me so I’ll get the virtual beers in
Just bought an 05 triumph daytona 650 thats had a knock, mainly plastics and clocks and want to stick a set of risers on it and put it in streetfighter type style to commute on…did it on a R1 for 12 months with std bars and wasn’t impressed.
I have a question though and I hope you guys can help…the std clocks are knackered, is it worth me getting some from ebay or are there such things as mini aftermarket speedos etc? If i don’t use the std clocks, I’m guessing that none of the idiot lights/ gauges will work??? I wasn’t planning on putting any of the fairing back on so are bellypans available??
any help much appreciated guys…and I will post pics once done

cheers

ya can get mini clocks, chrome items small and smart. spose depends how the speedo and rev counter work on the daytona, electric or cable ( i dont know, lol)

if was me i would another set off the bay.

I’d have to go the other way and get a mini clock and hide it somewhere. You don’t even need your original speedo you attach a sensor to your rear sprocket and one to your swingarm, measure the circumference of your wheel input the data and you’ll get it exact. I’ve got an acewell on my xjr and its ok.

But I’m gonna get rid of it for a satnav as that needs no setting up.

thanks for the info Guys, the problem with using the standard clocks is that they’ll stick out but I guess I can fabricate a bracket. When you run the mini speedo, I’m guessing you don’t have a temp gauge, rev counter etc?

cheers

Depends on which version you go for, the acewell one I have connects to all the main electric stuff, rev counter, fuel gauge, and temp.

check out a few sites, www.banditmania.co.uk - I think or do a google for moto velo. There are loads bits to suit what you need.

Hey m8, this is my ACEWELL, piece o **** to wire up, digital speedo, analog rev counter and programable shift light minder, fuel guage (this can easily be changed into a temp guage), max +av speed, riding time, clock, all the idiot lights. Backlights a funky blue. Compact n bejue

Love those little black reservoirs

thats looks sweet Mate.

I’ve been looking for a top yolk with risers etc and 998 do a comfort kit but waiting to hear back from them to see if it fits my model triumph…is it a big no no to drill the std yolk, fit some risers and get them welded?

Drilling alone should be fine, but you could get a new set made up if you got the dough!

I’ve got a set of triple clamps off a KTM supermoto which have fatbar clamps as standard so I reckon I can take the risers off and make them fit pretty easily…added bonus is they are rubber mounted.

Whats the best place to get extended Brake line? HEL? may need throttle / clutch cables too?

cheers for the helps o far, much appreciated

I found goodridge to be very helpful, they do all sorts of colours and made to measure, they didn’t even charge me when I messed up one of my measurements and needed a new breather hose.

thanks, I’ll give them a buzz.

Just been looking at your Bandit project on the other post…that is going to be one sweet looking motorcycle…that Fazer is stunning too

What are the forks from? The riding position looks pretty spot on.

Can I pick your brains about headlights? Need a set and quite fancy twin lights, any recomendations?

cheers

The Fazer front end if from a 636, but we modded it to have the the fazer wheel with the radial calipers.

There are loads of spots out at the mo, my pal working on a daytona and a speed triple at the minute, did you want to keep the fixed headlight mount? Or come off the forks?

if ya know an aly welder i’d get the risers welded, much better.

Also ya might find you dont need to extend your hose, i say might. on the gsxrs ya lucky enough just to re route wires and hose outside of fork legs and it work fine.

Not really thought about the fixed headlight mount so fitted to the fork legs would be ideal I guess.

Not sure how the Daytona is going to look yet, bodywork is all pretty angular so I think it should look OK…the fairing is damaged so i was going to fashion a bellypan out of the existing fairing, just cut it down so its not too big…what do you reckon?

Personally as little plastic as possible, but a small one would look pretty nice.

Gypsy that Daytona’s too good to street fighter… why don’t you fix it up, sell it and buy a bandit or old slingshot and fighter that?

Don’t listen to Ang, fighter that bad boy, its got lovely curves and lines.

look at this triple, we swopped over the front end from an 06.

sweet eh!

Ang wot you doing here, Feck off back in the plastic’s section :stuck_out_tongue:

Shut up…Anusol :stuck_out_tongue:
