Triumph Day at the London Motorcycle Museum 17th June 2012

Triumph Day at the London Motorcycle Museum 17th June 2012

To celebrate 110 years of Triumph Motorcycles we the Triumph Owners Motorcycle Club (TOMCC) have a national club ride into the London Motorcycle Museum on Sunday 17th June 2012.

The ride in :- Bill Dunn from our West Middlesex Branch is coordinating the ride into the museum which will set off from the current HQ of the West Middlesex Branch at the North Star Public House, Thornley Mill Road, Iver, Bucks - it is intended to leave the pub at 11am sharp.

The Museum:- On arrival at the Museum, entry will be via a pre-purchased wristband at £7 per person or £8 per person ‘on the door’… We have arranged to have John Rosamond present who will give a very interesting talk on the end days of the Meridian co-op, we also have a rock and roll band playing and included in the entry fee is entry to the museum and motorcycle displays and a free BBQ. ( you must have the wristband tag to obtain entry and the free BBQ etc )

Pre-paid wristbands:- I have obtained a large amount of wristbands which are for sale at £7, so that entry into the museum will be far easier on the day. We hope to get several hundred bikes on this venture, and therefore would like to ask if any of our members would be interested in taking part in the ride in on 17th June. Not only is this day open for anyone to attend it would be great to see Classic and Modern triumph’s on the Rally, so if you would like to come along, it would be great to see you and as mentioned above I have the wristbands available at a discount, so I hope to hear from you soon.
I only have a few hundred at this price, the ride is to celebrate 110 years of Triumph - so if you wish to join us and require the reduced priced entry wristbands, give me a shout at [email protected] … i’ll be on a Triumph

Unfortunately am out of London the weekend of the 15th - 17th, otherwise it would have been a yes!! Sorry to have missed this one:crying:

Think we’ll probably be going to this if it’s a nice day. I should think we’ll go straight there, as we are in SE London so it seems a bit silly to go to Bucks first!

We’ll be:

Thunderbird

Tiger 800 (Purple!)

T100

… all new, so we’ll hide them away in a corner of the parking area.

I want to take the '675 to the Ace on the 10th, so hopefully I’ll catch up with you there

Be great to see you there - i will at the Ace on the 10th and at the London Motorcycle Museum on 17th manning the Triumph Owners Motorcycle Club (TOMCC) stand… come by and say hello…

See you on the 10th and 17th …

Regards Ray

No need to hide Chris - apart from owning a 1959 6T Triumph Thunderbird 650, which i’m in the process of restoring - i also own a 2012 Tiger 800 XC and a 2011 Street Triple R, the modern Hinckley motorcycles are simply awesome and one or the other will be pride of place at the LMM and Ace… I wont be hiding them away… hope to see you there Chris… look for me i’m the bald one with a thin white / grey tash and beard…

Regards Ray

If you are going we have a couple of options for you to get there :-
(Option 1) The ride in from the North Star :- Bill Dunn from the West Middlesex Branch is coordinating the ride into the museum which will set off from the current HQ of the West Middlesex Branch at the North Star Public House, Thornley Mill Road, Iver, Bucks - it is intended to leave the pub at 11am sharp.

(Option 2) Tolworth Bowl:- join our friends from the Mighty South London branch (MSL) who will be leaving the Charrington Bowl, Kingston Road, Tolworth, KT5 9PB – at 11am for the ride up to the museum. The MSL branch usually meet in the car park directly outside the Tolworth Bowl. Again they will depart prompt at 11am.
This is a National Event which should be supported by many hundreds of motorcycles on the ride in… your bike doesn’t have to be a Triumph, so pop along either for either of the branch rides as above, or just pitch up at the Museum from 11am onwards entry on the day is £8. If you need any further info etc please contact me at [email protected]

Nice to meet “Art” at this today, who kindly passed on The Answer to The Eternal Question. It is “wet-wipes”. Thanks for that, Art.

Would have like to have come to this, but was out of London all weekend, having some messy, random, blindingly funny reunion with four people I had not seen since we were all young teenage goths, sciving off school to drink plastic bottles of Merrydown in the park. If I had not been reliving my early teenage yoof owing to some accident of Facebook drawing us together, I would have been taking the 675 to Triumph Day:D:D

Hope you all had a FANTASTIC time:D Look forward to the pics;)

LOADS of pics here

The museum were well happy, I got this message from the London Motorcycle Museum which reads :- Thank you to everyone who came to Triumph day today making it the biggest and best attended event the museum has ever had. Was an enjoyable day and we mostly stayed dry too, thanks for posting Ray …

Good to meet you too/three Chris. The magic is in the lanolin coating left behind, a light coating of Vaseline was always the old school way (great for keeping the winter road salts at bay).

Noproblem Art - Had some great feedback about the day - makes all my planning headaches over the past 3 months well worth it… glad you enjoyed the day …I may set another one up next year and make it an anuual Triumph Day at the LMM…

Thanks for the feedback Art

Kind Regards Ray
