Left home at 6am yesterday with clear skies and lovely weather only to arrive at 7am at Brands in the pi$$ing rain
Started the first session with 3 sighting laps and on my 2nd lap after the sighting lap, I was coming down the main straight at 115mph (true speed) before braking to 70 for the dipped right hander and lost the rear end as I was doing an overtake .
Managed to catch the slide but by that time it was too late to try to steer back onto the track so I decided to steer it as straight as possible onto the gravel traps. I eventually did lose the bike but the traps had slowed me down to about 10 or 15mph so the bike and I were in good shape to joing the next session again. Only damage was a 4cm crack on the RHS side pod
I filmed 4 sessions when the rain stopped but the track was still soaking for the 1st 2 sessions.
The 3rd was pretty fast but the last session of the day I could get kneedown on almost all of the corners and overtook quite a few shocked sportbikes including a mate on an R1!!!
here are the vids…
PS sorry about the vibrations on the main straight. I wasnt alowed to use the suction cup so had to use the sticky pad which was mounted on a flimsy screen
i must say hats off to jamie he had a great day, put in some good laps and was always in good spirits even after the gravel incident, 100% commited to the day. thanks to Brian and the rest of the garage crew for a brilliant day.
