Tracker company refused to activate tracker on stolen bike

I have deleted this post as per your advice…

too much info…i agree.

Sorry to hear that mate, hope you get somewhere with Tracker, dont give up too easy - your bike might just be parked up somewhere for a few days incase the theives think it has 1 fitted. Amazing how they managed to get around the alarm/immobiliser in broad daylight without having to fiddle with wiring etc, i would have thought they’d have to remove bodywork and stuff to get around that. Have the police been able to trace the scooters to an address or anything?

Sorry to hear about your bike.

You have just told the bike thieves that there is no active tracker on the bike they nicked.

Perhaps you may want to edit the details or your original post.

+1, I would delete your post, you never know who’s reading this!!*looks around  *

Ahem:crying:

I know Roddy and I believe he has given up hope of the tracker being turned on, he has had extensive conversations with them and they flat out refuse. It is a ridiclous policy as we would understand if someone was trying after years to get it turned it on but would it not make sense to allow six months to a year and then charge a subscription fee back dated and a one off charge (similar to what the AA / RAC do) That way everybody is happy, they get more money than they would have and the owner hopefully gets their bike back…eveybody is happy.

ps he is still waiting to hear from the police …four days and counting

typical jobsworth, for the sake of turning it on even for an hour to give him chance of getting bike back they wont, total toss pots, hope he has luck with the police abd how many times have people "just nipped " to do summat and forgot to chain/disklock bike so lets not castigate the poor sod for that

It does seem a bit harsh that even, if you offer to pay the contract fee retrospectively, they won’t arm the tracker.

Maybe there is a lesson to learn here for other LBers who have bought bikes secondhand with a tracker fitted… Read the small print:doze:

Not a big surprise, they have just had Notting Hill Carnival and the Olympic celebrations to contend with.

As well as the insurance company.

Really sorry to hear this Roddy. Was there any CCTV footage that shows number plates or anything? Did it not have a steering lock? Hope it is recovered.

the insurance company did not have the tracker listed as a security device.

That’s good to hear, those slimy feckers will use anything to get out of settling a claim if they can.

I’d encourage your mate to edit his original post mate. Too much detail

It’s a real shame to hear this Roddy, especially as I’ve just realized I’ve seen you and your 6, and parked next to you on more than one occasion, didn’t realize you were on here.

Fingers crossed it turns up.

mate, I bet your gutted. Sorry to hear about your loss.
I know how you feel my bike was lifted in broad day light outside my work.
So how did they wheel it away with the steering lock on?

Steering locks are easy, doesn’t take that much force to snap them.

That’s why it’s always best to have at least a disc lock

4 days later, i would think the bike is in bits and gone to heaven by now… really sorry to hear about this mate and as for tracker well i wont say it on here.

thanks everyone, the steering lock was on.

have deleted the post…so no risk of thieves seeing it (if they haven’t already). Insurance were not aware of the tracker. So no issues there.
