Tour of Scandinavia and the Baltic States

welcome back bud.

Just reading this back, my fondest memory of this trip was taken just before this photo:

Now to put that into some context, that’s here:

This part of the world really has no right to be as beautiful as it is. Absolutely clear water, visibility only limited by one’s eyesight, and an emptiness that whispers ‘go as you like, this is just for you’. I was expecting bleak, barren, dark.

We’d just gotten off a ferry from the Lofoten islands from the west, it was a sunny day, and it really all was as perfect as could be. I was having a blast, chasing the tarmac east out of this valley:

One of those life moments when you think that no person could be enjoying life more than you at that very time. V twin, epic road, bliss.

And then a screaming noise behind me as two fighter jets absolutely ripped past, no more than 15 metres off the water. Dog fighting. Overtaking me west to east in the valley, before both pulling hard up to scale up and over that U bend, whilst doing a barrel roll. Just brilliant.

It was a nod to enjoying the moment.
