That was just the straw someone getting shot it stems way deeper than that like the last two riots the youth have had enough of being harrassed by the police because of the colour of their skin or what they chose to wear. Every life is preciou there are eye witnesses that say that the young man was shot whilst lying on the floor. I dont condemn looting and vandalism but understand the underlying frustration that brought it about .
I wasn’t there an am pretty sure i will only know what the media an powers that be want me too after they put it in the pot an cooked it up of course just like anything else that happens in the world we are spoon fed what they want us to know an i aint eating any of it as gospel just my opinion of course .
Mate £1.00 is worth more than them… I think if i owned one of those shops my first port of call wouldn’t be 999 it would be a hit man. Thats people’s livelihoods I know shops down there don’t do too well down there anymore so for the very little they have left to be taken away from them is a joke.
If people want to protest outside a partially closed police station like di**heads then thats their bad not everyone else’s. They’ve been using that police station as offices I haven’t seen a Serco prisoner transportation vehicle there is ages. Your obviously not going to get a great deal of attention if theres about 5 people in there.
pmsl your too easy im off riding c’ya
LOL. Enjoy your ride mate :)… If your in Tottenham watch your tyres :hehe:
Was up until 4am watching the non-coverage on BBC and Sky, scouring the internet for actual news, and getting in touch with my friends who live nearby. I have no idea why no one reported that it spread down Lordship Lane to Wood Green High Street. They’re all OK, a few had vehicles on fire down their road, and had a very noisy night.
I don’t think the people who were looting and burning sh!t down really gave a flying fu*ck about the guy who got shot on Thursday; they’re just a bunch of opportunistic tw@ts. Looking at Twitter I saw loads of “calls to arms” for people to get up to Tottenham and go crazy. In fact, the only place I could get any news of what was happening down Wood Green High Street was through Twitter from people on the ground.
I understand the tension between the police and the black community is constantly tense (a bit of an understatement?), but trashing everything in sight is not going to solve that problem, and I don’t think that or the guy who got shot on Thursday was what was on rioter’s minds when they were getting their new Nikes from JJB Sport.
Too right carmen.
Have you seen a pic of the mug that got shot? http://www.thisislocallondon.co.uk/news/9181207.Tottenham_Hale_man_was_shot_by_firearms_officers_after_arrest_attempt/
How many people did he rob for that bling with the gun he had on him? Great picture to release… His family must be so proud.
Just got a call from a friend who owns a little shop down in Wood Green. Asked me if I could come down and help with some clean up. It’s a 10min walk away, so bike ride is off.
i’m about 2-3 miles away from the riot’s the met helicopters have been up all night.
the riots are no excuse, the fella shot, got what was coming to him, he was a well known criminal, he opened fire on a police officer, he was warned not to move TWICE, the fact that a firearm was recovered says it all.
it’s about time the police took the kid gloves off it think.
i feel sorry for the people who have just had there buissness’s burned down, and for the people that have to live there in that area.
sorry but no sympathy from me for the bloke shot.
NONE AT ALL.
+1
+1 Bang on. Justice done
Definately… We should do an LB charity ride!
Just went down there and took a few pics will upload now
Red sky at night, Tottenham’s alight. Again.
Looking at the various videos that have appeared, this seems to have simply been a general free-for-all venting of teenage angst against the police, against authority generally, and - above all - an opportunity to get some free stuff.
There appear to be more white people “rioting” than black so obviously it wasn’t a “black community against the police” confrontation.
But that’s just going from the videos I’ve seen.
This has nothing to do with the colour of someone skin. It was to do with a drug dealing gun totting criminal scumbag who shot at police and was in turn shot and killed by the police.
He chose the course of his life and his actions.
What the riot was about was probably nothing to do with him, it was probably used as an excuse to be thugs.
i know people that have been shot…its all down to what they are involved in, you dont get shot for no reason!
i hope, this incident on thursday sends a message to those carry firearms, that the police WILL open fire if they need too, i think too many youths/criminals now days think the police wont do anything, this incident proved they will if they have too, so hopefully others will now think twice.
oh and its funny how when charles de mendez was shot at stockwell…there was no riots then, and he WAS completlry innocent.
I just got back from Wood Green. Talking to friends down there I’ve learnt a few things, such as it’s apparently going to happen again tonight. I’m concerned that if it goes ahead, and branches out down to Green Lanes, expect gunfire and deaths.
Tottenham High Road is pretty much ash - maybe DanielGT can confirm this with pics. They burned down the post office as well.
WG High Street is closed to traffic, loads of shops are closed. A burnt out car has been removed. HMV is trashed. The Shopping City is closed, they got in through Boots which is also trashed, and just went on a free for all. Every phone shop, every sports clothing store, every betting shop, The Body Shop (why?), and GameStation have been trashed; and Vision Express has had all its designer sunnies and specs stolen. Not so strangely enough the pawnbrokers is open and busy.
Some neighbours went out onto WGHS last night while it was happening, said they walked behind a group of guys who were very calmly planning which shop they were going to next. Others confirmed what I thought which is that there were no police in WGHS until 6am.
I’m pretty angry about it to be honest. Don’t sh!t where I eat you fu*cking scum bags.
i too have heard its gonna kick off again tonight.
it seems some groups just want a tear up over it all, and some are using it to go out on the earn-(thieving)
what i do know is, if it spreads up the high road into another postcode…expect stabbings and shootings, them areas do not like each other.
Oh, and I walked behind a group of girls and overheard them saying “Oh man, why didn’t they smash Aldo’s. There’s great shoes in Aldo.”
:exclamationmark:
Great… looks like I’m gonna be having a busy night at work again tonight.
Gonna have to try and avoid Tottenham this time though!
What do you do rusty?
