Well heard back from the insurance company finally today ( they have been REALLY great BTW ) , the bikes been classed as a total loss and they are paying out against the other guys insurance.
The valuation they put on the bike was £2750 and with a salvage value of £600 so i’ll get a cheque asap for £2150 and i have to wait for the rest … Don’t really understand why but that’s life.
Anyway my point was, i was going to trade the bike in for less than this, so where the hell did they get the valuation from ? In fact that’s MORE than i paid for the bike… I tell you Japanese plastic is the most expensive thing on this earth !!!
So not really a total loss then, especially as they are replacing my helmet, jacket and gloves too
Strange how I’ve never claimed on any insurances and this month I’ve claimed for the Dog, the bike and the camcorder ( that the dog broke ) which also got written off and I got a £1400 cheque for an item I bought off of ebay for £600… You HAVE to love new for old replacement policies …

er, there is no rest to wait for - with this deal, you get to keep the bike for a cost of £600 - or did I miss something ??
Is it a Class a, b c or d write off ? you cant use a or b on the road, class a’s are meant to be broken, not even used as trackbikes
I can buy the bike for £600 your right but the only issue is the insurance company said that the third party might have an issue with this as I’m seen to be profiting out of an insurance claim so I might just hold out for the rest of the cash to be honest.
I’d I can have it then I’ll use it as a track bike as it really only needs £50 part to make it ride-able… It’ll be a Cat C write off ( not economical to repair ) …
As for the next bike I still really want the 675 I had to cancel , but I’m still worried it’ll be too small, so it may be back to a gixxer.
But until the cheque arrives I have no real idea… Just have to wait and see as my ankle still isn’t right and I couldn’t ride even if I wanted too .
yeah… but i’m torn as like everyone i wantd a not so limited edition grey, and now the yellow on takes my fancy… But i’ve seen a red on with 2000 miles on it for £6k and i could always get it sprayed black or something

When I got my scratched panels & Zorst replaced on an 3rd party insurance job, I asked the dealer doing the work if i could have the [microscopically scratched] bits back, they [no doubt hoping for a nice ebay drinkie] told me they had to keep them for a year in case the other insurance co want them…I asked the dealer if it was OK to ask them…the 3rd party insurer said they had no need/wish for them, so I got to get them out of the dealers.
Moral of the story - ask, you may well get. I also managed to get them to “repair” my std suzuki can with a super spunky Yoshi [as it was cheaper] just cos I asked…all was cleared by the Norwich Union
if i was you i would make sure i do the lotto this week aswell,never know how long your luck may last
