Sunday’s Essex Air run…awesome day out n miss_lilax’s first bike run! Everything went great bike went great bikers where great.
not so great…entering Ford Duncton and pull up to pay. Miss_lilax gets off as the money is in the backpack she’s wearing, we pay and as there is a queue behind I ride through and wait for the lil missus.
Park up and she puts her foot up to climb on (she is only 5ft3 and has to climb up the pegs lol), thought my foot was planted solidly only to find out that it wasnt and then spent a frantic 5 seconds trying to convince my bike not to kiss the ground. Failed.
Broken cluth lever(still usable tho) scuffed engine cassing but miracuasly not a single scratch to the fairing?!!!
3 weeks old and a stupid drop in front of about 1000 bikers.
now its £45 for a new clutch lever and £45 /hour…?! lol but then its all happening next month during the first service.
that sucks mate although at least the first drop is out of the way. to beat your record though the CBR that i had was down in the first two weeks beacuse of a reversing van at a bill of £2500:P
we have all been there. Luckily my first drop on my new gixer was in my underground car park due to me using the front brake whilst moving forward slowly and to the right a bit. School boy error, back brake is always covered now. lol Thank you R&G bungs!
BTW, dont pay 45 quid to have the lever fixed, its just one screw and replace it! I changed my levers to pazzos in minutes! Well thats on a GSXR anyway…
EDIT: So its a suzuki, easy then. use an 8 and 10 size thingy (I think that’s the technical term) to loosen the screw on the handle bar holding clutch lever to the bars. then undo bolt on underside, there is only one bolt. take out bolt and replace lever. N.B. make sure you use the spacer that lives inside the lever on the new lever. tighten up again and job done. (its actually alot easier than I have described) I could do it for you if you supplied the lever. :hehe:
cheers phantom but its already organised…its part of their job anyway n as long as I keep em happy n take my jobs to the shop I bought it for I can get a good deal when I trade it up
I dropped my street triple for the first time on friday - a moment of madness parking in my bay… I’d put the stand down but then put it back up to get some more grip on the ground type thing… went to put the bike on the stand and oops! down it went…i’ve never moved so quick, thinking “**** **** ****, please dont have dented the tank or anything serious” got up not realising my ankle was sore as hell and examined the bike… similar to you, broken clutch lever (£24) and scratched altenator cover (£40) and a broken wing mirror (£40)
an expensive mistake, but its my first drop over now - ankle is still sore, but its all good! parts on order and picking them up on friday!
