Do bikes have to pay tolls in Europe? Generally there free for us bike riders in UK. Does anyone know the answer?
Different rules for different countries. Where are you planning to go?
You can use the AA website for a reasonably good (but not bike-specific) guide to road rules and types of roads (toll or not-toll) in different countries.
IIRC, you can also use ViaMichelin routeplanner to plan a route through Europe, and it will tell you what the tolls are (as well as working out how much petrol you will use, how long it will take, etc).
Basic rules are that in some countries you pay to go on the motorways (but not on other roads, and some of the non-toll roads can be very good and can be dual carriageways). Countries I know are:
France - pay on autoroutes (they have toll booths on exits. Pay by cash if you’re on a bike: if you pay by card they charge you the car rate, which is more expensive. Also, if there’s two of you, you have to pay singly and separately, otherwise computer says no)
Belgium and Holland and Germany - no pay. Just like over here.
Spain - pay on M-ways
Switzerland - pay on M-ways (but you have to get a prepaid pass in advance)
Austria - same as Switzerland (iirc, but it was a long time ago)

Also some countries give you a nice receipt at the end, recording your average speed.

Always stop for a cuppa or a refuel before you come off a french autoroute. Keeps your avge speed down a treat, and their motorway services actually do decent food at reasonable prices 
In 2003 I paid road tolls for tunnels and motorways in Germany (or was it Austria?) and Italy.
if you go to Switzerland on a bike they will most likely not force you to buy a “vignette” at the border crossing (although they will if you are in a car) however, if you get caught on the motorway without a vignette then they will force you to buy one,and fine you too, my advice? don’t get caught 
or use the A/B roads they are usually very nice and although slower do give you better views.

If you use www.mappy,com and enter in vehicle as a motorcycle and plan your route it will tell you how much in tolls and akso how much in fuel. It also does very good route planning, been using them for years
