Personally I wouldnt bother. Its good if you are parked illegally (provided you dont have a tax disk showing) but means you need to take it off every time you leave the bike.
The best method I’ve seen is mounting the plate with Dseus fasteners (1/4 turn type) … the plate looks normally mounted, but takes a few seconds to remove it if you need to.
i dont leave it where i cant see it, as it is the wardens i dont see sneak up and done, after paying out £50.00 2 friday nights running i had to put an end to it, even our other friends laughed at the wardens and walked away without saying a word to me about it.
Mine’s come off on the motorway, wouldn’t bother unless you can get really heavy duty velcro and do it top and bottom. Also useful if you take it to the track.
Velcro plates are great I have a small one for London and normal size one for Box Hill (when using the big plate I also use 1 screw to stop if flying of at 90mph+)
Keep your tax disk in your pocket and the parking ticket scum just walk on by.
If you gonna take it off your bike and walk away make sure its chained up or the council will remove it plus police find it had to chase or track down a bike with no number plate.
I don’t think velcro is illegal but the police don’t like it and it they do notice it (and trust me some police check) they’ll just keep looking over your bike until they can do you for something else.
Last but not least if its velcroed on and not the legal size and the feds do find it they may confiscate it unless you sign there lil black book admitting you were braking the law, oh one more thing a plate that is far to small will get you done for perverting the course of justice.
**** I learnt a lot from getting stopped, some of my info may be wrong I’m not an officer of the law but if your gonna break it, it pays to know where you stand.
