Time For A Change

this has been on the grey matter for ages now…

i want a 2nd bike, something a bit nicer than my SV1000 in its current state, the idea is to get a 2nd bike, take my SV off the road for a rebuild as i want to keep it (memories!) as it isnt worht much now.

I was looking at FZ1’s, but i’m thinking about running costs as money is tight a the monent i donbt knwo if i could afford two 1000’s, i did test ride the new kawasaki Z1000SX the other day, awesome bike, nice and quick, comfy and it handled ery well for a big bike 230kg+. haent got round to riding an FZ1 yet, im scared too cos i’ll probably buy it!

so now i’m thinking, well why not get another SV650? i quite fancy a naked bike so maybe get one of them, or i hae also been looking at the hornet’s 04 onwards, possible een a 98-99 fireblade i dod liek the old foxeye ones, Z750’s are also an idea.

i just dont know what to get, so many ideas!! one thing i am bothered about is that i may miss the power and punch of a 1000, a 6 may be too revvy and not enough go.

running costs are a major issue tho, i mean how much diffrentce is there between a 600 and a 1000, spose it depends on the style of the bike?

think this is perfect for you but probably too much power for you:)

Looking at fireblades, you seem to get a lot for the money. I’ve seen people pick up very clean ones with 20K for around two large.

The FZ1’s a pretty good bike, engine is bulletproof pretty much. The handling isn’t too bad, just has poor ground clearance. Not too bad on fuel either

You’re not saying how much you want to spend …

Six or so of the best, LOOKY HERE

Yea, get a trumpet. (If yer man enough)

What about that Speed Triple that was for sale on here? Looked like a great deal. Haven’t ridden the old, so I can’t compare it to the 1050, but when I was looking for a bike, the Speed Triple would have been the sensible option money wise.

Oh, and if you say you want to keep running costs down, don’t go and test ride a superduke, because all your plans will change afterwards :stuck_out_tongue:

theres no way i’m testign a an SD, i WILL buy one if i do:D

i think i’m gonna buy something diffrent- 2006 hornet:w00t: or a Z750, been looking at both, i’e decided against any 1000’s as it defeats the runnign cost’s point!

Hornet over Z750 I’d have the Z… Much better looks and from what I’ve been told much more exciting

from what I can work out you are buying another bike, with a similar sort of requirement for the one you have but buying the new one with running costs in mind as you willl now be running two bikes?

why not sell the SV for what you can get, spend a bit extra and get a nicer bike without worrying about running costs so much as you’ll just have the 1??

Ahh good Leon,

Men are inherently designed for Polygamy…

Whilst a woman can only envisage the foreseeable future with one bike in a state of harmonious monogamy, a man must spread his lust bike-wide like an erupting seed of fertility - and would ride the lot if he could!

Get as many bikes as possible mate  that’s what i say!

I test rode the old z1000, it did handle well at all :frowning:

I’ve gone for a 52 plate fireblade - being delivered tomorrow

no, i want a diffrent bike, i want an IL4, 600’s are alot cheaper to run than a 1000, i couldnt afford to run two 1000’s, especially if one is gonan cost upwards of 4k plus to buy.

i dont want to sell the SV, shes battered a bit, been hacked around for nearly 3 years now showing nearly 43k on the clock, barely serviced etc, but i love it to bits, hence gettign a 6 which will costs less to run, which will also allow me to sort the SV a bit more ready for winter when she will get used mainly, plus when i want warp speed, shes there:D

Can’t go wrong with a naked 600 Hornet Rats - reliable, fun, easy to ride, good on the twisties and up the motorway (well kind of…maybe good up the motorway if Hels isn’t riding it)

However, if you want a small naked bike with a bit of grunt and that OOOMPH factor - then of course it’s a 675 Street Triple (not that am biased or anything:D) That’s also a great all rounder (although, once again, if riding on a motorway in cross winds it can be a bit scary as it can drift - but maybe that’s just me)

Go for it buster ;)

the one i’m lookign at is an 06 with the little for cowling bit, liek your old one?

its mint this one, only 2,600 miles:w00t:

i do like wider bars, plus i fancy a bike thats easy too ride but fun, nothign too focused, hopefully it will slow me down a bit too;)

i just fancy a change, 4 years now on V-Twins, time to try an IL4!

the ST is a nice bike, bit too many £’s tho, and very nickable.
