A blind link with no comments. Bit of a touch one to decipher… The police force like any organisation is going to have bad apples. Over half the “convictions” are for speeding, wow, human like us. Get over it.
Yep, do the same with Lawyers, Jewellers and Estate Agents and you’ll find the same…well, may be not with the Jewellers!
Especially the jewellers! Blood diamonds and all that! 
I guess the worst period for Police corruption was the 60’s and 70’s - with coppers getting ‘entertained’ and taking back handers from vice-lords and gangsters - who also got their hooks into the political establishment - usually via blackmail (hooking up politicians with rent boys and call girls and then threatening to expose them) - obvious examples being the Krays and the Profumo affair.
This current police stuff is trivial compared to the above - but who knows what is happening in the higher echelons - as usual this stuff takes about thirty or forty years to see the light of day.
well what ever you guys say…but I think the police are also top gang…I am sure 9 out 10 times they catch their colleages doing something criminal they let him them go so we r just seeing tip of the iceberge in these surveys 
Nope you’re wrong there matey - I’ve had the displeasure of personally nicking two coppers while I worked in the West End and have been present when another couple have been nicked, bear in mind this was all (except 1) for drunkeness offences.
I know the majority feel like this, I would never ever risk my livelihood, pension and my liberty for someone doing something criminal in my job. Even if a copper actually wasn’t involved in something unlawful but he knew of it and he didn’t report it then he would be guilty of Misfeance - criminal offence.
Back in the 90’s our complaints dept (then called CIB) started a proactive wing and were actually going out after coppers that they had information / intel about for being dodgy, they were very good at what they did and a few scumbags were sacked / dealt with for criminal offences.
I have no doubt that this still goes on and we have had also for years an annonymous telephone number which you can call the complaints up and report someone if you wish too - as I said above, if you don’t report it then you’re in the poo as well (quite rightly).
A couple of people on here seem to think that the old bill just let their own off (give a verbal warning too), seen it in a couple of threads on LB by a couple of posters who seem to be a bit paranoid about the Police, it is utter rubbish.
I am telling you know that if I get stopped speeding I am more than likely going to get done for it than you - if the cops find out through thier questioning that I am in the same job as them, then they will more than likely deal with it by the letter of the law - no verbal warning for me.Edited as I can’t spell !!

As for the OP, as stated, every profession has bad apples. Police, Lawyers, Bankers, Nurses, everyone. 1000 total, mostly for traffic offences, in a nationwide force of how many?
I’m no supporter of the Police in this country, but this amazing revelation is nothing but a cheap headline grabber.
You don’t have to believe it mate, I have seen it and know it to be true. Hence when I get stopped I will not say what I do and try and steer any bollocking away from the question of employment in amongst my grovelling apologies.
Must be different in the Met then. My cousin is serving in Devon and drives like a complete fool. Been stopped more times than I can keep track of, speeding +100 etc and not once been fined, no points etc
I should imagine it is mate. Very many of the county forces are of a size where a lot of the cops know each other or know of each other and I would assume that would probably be treated differently.
I have family in smaller forces up in Scotland and I know that it is extremely difficult (wrongly) to stick on people that you know and work with.
Essex Police stick up for themselves too…
know of one that gets away with being a complete a-hole while off duty, yet tells everyone hes a copper, when hes had a few and tries pulling the young ladies…and his mates have to bail him out when a fight nearly starts cos hes being so damn rude,arrogant,nasty !! Dread to think what hes like ON duty

There is approx 160 Thousand cops in the UK (England, Wales, Scotland and NI).
I think the figure of a thousand with half of that thousand having convictions for motoring offences is probably way lower than most other occupations. The way a person is dealt with is done on an individual basis and that is how it showed be treated.
If I were asked if I would personally like to work with someone with previous (criminal) convictions then that is a different story.
End of the day, everyones got their price…dont get me wrong, i applaude and respect anyone in your profession, even nurses,doctors too…its a thankless task half the time cos people have met up with a-holes in the profession and tar others …its a human thing.
But we need them and without, well, i dread to think what it would be like on the streets or in the hospitals etc…that saying ambulance drivers should be praised here too !!
But, we are all human and im afraid …we are all up for that ol devil on the shoulder situation, if it ever arises in front of us…its up to us if we decide to go with it or turn our backs…
Majority are true to the profession they choose though and for that, they get a big up from me !!
I agree with Trojan. I’m only Met Staff but Hampshire Police enjoyed every minute of doin me for speeding on the M27 on the bike. They’d stopped Dave then came looking for me 2 miles down the road on a slip road. Their attitude changed for the worse when they found out what I did. I wouldn’t have minded so much, but neither of them rode bikes…hence didn’t understand the concept of watching the road and traffic rather than studying the speedo…and had to ask what make and model the bike was…the bliddy thing was sat in front of them with Kawasaki Ninja written on it!! Idiots!! :w00t:
As you said tho, they dont ride bikes…therefore, look on us like we are twats !!
Amount of times i get asked if my bike is mine ! when i say yes, blah blah blah…they then try and tell me “what are u doing riding a bike”…FFS !! (err, try cos it gets me from A to B?)
