This forum still alive?

Hardly any activity here regarding rideouts. Any suggestions for groups that I could join? Based in N London

Hey Paul. Still alive for sure, though I personally pretty much only ride on commutes, road-trips and trackdays now.

It’s quieter now than it used to be. I try to post a rideout every few weeks, but still recovering from an accident so cant ride at the moment.

I was just starting to post a few but have some medical issues at the moment so won’t be doing any for awhile

Hi Paul only know of one big one in September from the Ace Cafe. Been doing the odd commute from Chingford to Watford and some odd Essex routes on Calimoto

Sorry to hear that. I hope it’s sorted out soon.

I do those too on my road bike. I’ve got Cadwell park Mon+Tuesday, one of them is road bike only. Join

Would highly recommend this group

Do you still have to wear armbands on rideouts?

Of course! Makes it super easy to recognise your group. Are you not a fan of that?

Historically I’m not a fan of groups wearing armbands to feel superior over others.

It is fascinating to see how as human beings we come up to our own conclusions based on our internal biases!

The yellow armbands exist for us to see our own group. There has been a number of times where other bikers happened to appear in the middle of our group and it would have been very easy to turn the wrong way had we not had identifying markers.

I hope that this helps to clear your mind  and I would highly recommend you give LMRC a try as it is just the right combination of speed and advanced training

With appreciation,
Eduard

Londonbikers rideouts have never needed armbands in my experience of them

Maybe because we all know eachother and which bike we ride…not the same when you organise rides from FB and a bunch of random people shows up
Personally I see no issues with the armbands, same as people wearing hiviz or branded hoodies IMO.
If you behave like an asshole it will make it easier for the police to identify you.
