this morning come out warm the bike up and off I start riding, about 1.5 miles down the road I hear a bang!
pants I think chain snapped or something so start braking no rear pressure at all nothing, like there is no brake!
so pull over to inspect I’m looking at the back wheel cannot see what wrong but know there is something no right about the setup… then I realise there is no brake caliper there!!! WTF
so looking back in the road nothing I eventually find it hanging down still on the hose.
so looking over it some theiving little sh!t has taken the 2 caliper bolts! I know they were knicked as I only checked over the rear brakes last week (bearing in mind I’m riding once a week at the moment)
I’m just lucky the caliper spun out instead of into the wheel or I would not be here writing this now!!!
Bloody hell - sorry to hear that - sound malicious - if it was a theft surely they wouldhave nicked the caliper - unless they were disturbed or something.
Sheeit - I had a similar experience - not long after I’d bought my ZX9, I parked it at my mum’s overnight - got on the next day, backed it out and touched the front brake… nothing.Got off the bike and found some little shites had cut the stainless lines and nicked me front calipers.
Had to ride the 45 miles back to Slough with only the back brake to stop me.
I’m seriouly anal when it comes to brakes and anything to do with them, I use the loctight stuff on them all the time. I cannot believe for a single second that they shook lose after less than 10 miles riding in total…however I did notice yesterday a new gpz500 had turned up round the corner which I have not seen before, not accusing or anything just seems a little conveinent
If it ain’t screwed down they’ll nick it, if it is they nick the screws.
Some people have absolutely no consideration for anyone else but themselves. Time the justice system started hammering down on little shitty crimes like this.
