In this weather is that they have a lot of spilt fuel in them, it was rainbow city this morning.
Lots of fuel/oil all over the roads this morning. Seemed to be the day for it
I’ve seen this, also seen really bad deep ruts caused by the buses too, very twitchy over those what with the oil/diesel, lane markers and rain too.

The A4 was nice and flooded towards town :w00t: least my car had a good wash, even Hammersmith Roundabout was knee deep in places 
There are some ruts in the bus lane in Lewisham that throw the bike all over the place. Not so bad if you know about them but quite dangerous if you don’t.
They’re just after the shopping centre on the left and where the buses tend to park up. Sorry, don’t know the name of the centre.
There are minor ruts all over the place so my advice is if you don’t know them that well use the bus lanes with care, diesel is all over the place to I agree.
That bit of road is a nightmare when it’s busy - especially when it gets to the end, where there’s a hidden exit from the multi-storey carpark.
It’s best to stick to the outside lane along there, I find.
I find the buses get in the way too!
Especially when they’re following a cyclist.
There’s a certain irony that on my route from the A10 into central london the bus lanes I’m now allowed in are the ones I used anyway because I’d worked out where the cameras are. And in the middle is Haringay where the bus lane is local (donchyaknow) and not TFL.
Better to see the diesel in the rain than not see it in the dry and end up on the floor! Think of it as a helper!
The big problem I find, after the ruts and diesel droppings, is getting out of the damned things.
I’m thinking of giving up using them.
But then there is Southbound on the S Circular approaching Shooters Hill at 6:30 leaving Woolwich. (A good thing to do.)

I tried the bus lanes the other day and after riding like twenty of them I noticed the times in the posts. What are they for? are they times that the pictured vehicles can use them and the rest of the time is free for all?
If not I’m going to get a nice pack of mail this month.

Blue signs are who can use them during specified times. If you ain’t on the board, you can’t use them, 'cept now that we can use all of them thanks to BoJo (macp, the t-shirt IS in progress, having difficulty sourcing a good BoJo pic)
Honestly, if its wet, I stay well out of the buslanes for all above mentioned reasons. Ruts, holes, buses, bicycles, diesel and lemmings, plus the need to be constantly changing lanes with impatient cagers… christ, talk about a complete and utter recipe for disaster…
So, are all the people who spent the last few months getting very excited about being able to ride in bus lanes now having second thoughts?

It kind of implies everyone’s only ever allowed one thought before society comes over all heavy handed… second thoughts… you had TWO thoughts!!! That’s a bit greedy isn’t it… who do you think you are eh, bloody Einstein or something… Thinkers… who needs 'em!
Not really.
It just implies that you’ve had one thought, followed by a second one.
Which, in turn, could be followed by all number of other ones.
None of which are in any way connected to society coming over heavy-handed.
Having second thoughts, imho, is an entirely natural thing for humans to do. Much more natural than not having them (which, to me, is very worrying, as that implies that we only have the capacity or willingness to think about something once, and not to adjust our views in the light of experience).

I was actually thinking of letting it slide… it was only throw away humour… the kind you buy at pound shops… fills a gap sufficiently, but not really worth complaining about if it breaks after the first use, cos you know it wasn’t even worth a pound really in the first place.
I have always taken the view that bus lanes are an opportunity to use as and when appropriate in a responsible way. No second thoughts required. There are times when they are so rammed full of cycles, buses and taxis that the regular lane makes better or safer progress - no problem with that. As for diesel etc, there was as much in the other lanes on Friday as their was in the bus lanes as far as I could see.
I haven’t used any bus-lanes yet as none of the signs have changed (that I’ve seen) and I don’t trust the local authorities or whoever administers fines not to do me. What am I doing wrong?
