The Community Remembrance Book for Davebez

It pains me to write this; though thankfully it’s not something I have to do often. As you probably know, the community very recently lost a fellow rider. Dave Berry aka Davebez, a popular and likable member who whilst fairly new to our community was always at events and seen in the galleries, passed away yesterday in an accident. He leaves behind two children and loved-ones.

The community has shown great support so far for our fallen rider and whilst we’re a large community, we’re also a very close one, with many more offers of support and condolences than you might expect. Like you I suspect, this makes me feel both very proud and very sad.

We offer our sincere and heart-felt sympathies to those that Dave leaves behind and try to comprehend the terrible heart-ache they must be feeling. Whilst this time is private for those, we would like to show to his loved-ones just how much Dave was liked, how much he loved biking as we all do. Perhaps this will go some way to helping them in the future.

With this in mind, we have arranged for a book of condolences to go around various events to be signed by as many members of the community as possible. Please come and sign it, even if you never met him but just liked his posts online.

The book will be at the following events:

• The Borough Market Meet tomorrow

• The Poppins Meet on Friday

• Possibly the Ace Cafe as well (tbd)

Please come and sign it.

We will also be collecting voluntary donations for a fund. There is no set thing in mind for this to go towards at the moment. It could be that a memorial might be appreciated, funeral costs or perhaps a charity donation if nothing is desired. Official collectors for this are Charity Council members, The Host team, the Moderation team or Tasha and I.

We will include this announcement in an upcoming newsletter to the whole community.

Farewell Dave. Thank-you for your time with us…

I will have the book at Borough for 7:30 pm. I spoke to neil in the cafe yesterday and he’s happy for us a table in the cafe for people to sign the book.

Great idea, I may pop along this evening.

Thanks Jay. See you at BM tonight.

I cant be there - is there a way I can make a donation remotely? Sorry if this has come up and I havent read it properly…

will sign it at borough tonight

I would like to thank each and every one of you that came down to the Borough Market meet tonight so you could sign David’s book. It was unbelievably emotional for me to see so many of us put our heartfelt words down and how generous people are in our community. Hopefully this book will serve as a brief summary, showing the short space of time we shared with him and something that his family can keep forever.

was really hard putting words down in davids book. still speechless

yes it is hard to put these things into words.

I’ll have the book at Poppins on Friday night and on Flatouts ride on Monday. There’s no rush for trying to put something down.

I myself was amazed at the response at Borough Tonight.

Well done LB members.

Its the least we can do

+1

It was hard finding the words. :crying:

So hard that i still haven’t found mine :crying:

Its the least we can do+2

IT WAS VERY HARD TO DO BUT REMEMBER THE CHAT WE HAD AND MADE ME LAUGH AND SAD AT THE SAME TIME

I couldnt make borough last night, glad you’ll be bringing with you on monday, I’d like to put a few words in.

Thanks.

No worries! The book will be circulated until the funeral so those that want to can wirte something in it.

The book will be at Poppins this evening.

Sorry if I have missed a post on this but has the book made it to the Ace yet?

Can you get to Poppins? It’s only a short ride from The Ace.

there is a group of us riding to poppins from the ace at half 8 tonight if who ever wants to come

Will speak to the other half to see what this evenings plans are as not sure. If not able to make it this evening and its still available on Wed I assume it will be at BM again?
