While riding home yesterday, I got thinking about the CBT - and how as long as you’ve done it, you can ride around on a 125 on L-plates for two years.
Is there a limit to how many times you can take the CBT? Otherwise you could ride around on the roads without ever having to take a test, and presumably not up to the required standard… surely that shouldn’t be allowed?
What if they had a rule saying “Now you have your CBT, you have to take your test within two years, or that’s it - no more riding”?
well your still restricted to l plates , not being allowed to take a pillion or go on motorways and 15bhp,
so not many people are going to want to ride like that for a long period of time.
I know someone who has taken the CBT 4 times. Still rides a 125 and sees no reason to take the full test. As long as they still offer the CBT you can take retaking it. There is no limit to the number of times that you can do it.
'Zactly. If there’s no incentive, or if you only ever plan to use a 125 or a scoot to get to work and back, you could carry on forever, effectively unlicenced.
At least they have some instruction, my car license gave me the right to ride 50cc scooters, I decided however to do a CBT as I had never ridden before. I do know someone in their 40s who has the right to ride a 250cc, has done no additional training is know out there on a X-evo 250. Not training nothing. Now that is scary.
