thinking of getting it for my k4 1000. does it make much of a differance?? will i bother?? seen one with gear indicator with it,
im gettin one for my K3 1000, so same bike, seems a cheap enough mod, so might as well try
iv tryed them and personaly dont like them…
Suzuki are not robbing you of power, the made the bike that way for a reason.
Its easyer and more fun to ride.
I find the T.R.E makes power to rabbid
But thats just me, i like a nice smooth power curve.
u can make one for 10p.
the ecu takes a gear reading that then changes the fueling map it uses. The tre changes that map to always appear to be in 6th gear even though ure not. It detects which gear it is by a resistance. change teh resistor (10p from maplin) and u have ureself a tre.
also acumen make a digigear with a tre inbuilt for £80
I’ve got a TRE on my TL Thou and find it does make a difference.
Previously it was very lumpy at low speed in the first couple of gears.
You can indeed make one for pennies (its just a 15ohm resistor) but you need to cut into the loom. The bought ones just plug in neatly in 2 minutes
Lazy git, me
I had a tre on my old sv650 and it made a massive difference to the power delivery - it was excelent
I have a TRE on my K5 and also on my K3 when I had one.
There is no power gain … only the delivery in the lower gears, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd I think.
I do not like the softening of the delivery in the lower gears, especially when looking for drive coming off medium speed corners.
Sometimes I would short shift to 4th to get better response/more linear throttle.
Is it a good value upgrade ?
If you don’t like the feel of the standard maps then it’s great, if you don’t notice the delivery is tamed in the lower gears then leave it.
I went for the G-Pack incidently
Joe
thanks lads, thinking of ordering this one, gear display one

any one ever order off these, they still open??
i dont get it either mate…
hhmmm smiled.
TR is something Suzuki does to pass noise tests.
(It limits power in 2nd & 3rd gears at lowish/medium revs)
TRE eliminates this so restores full power - doesn’t make a huge difference more likely a phsycological one that you’re getting the best you can from your bike.
HTH
the power commander/dyno set up is a better option…
Just not cheap
you dont realy need a TRE on a liter bike
I’ve had a thousand and I tried a TRE for a day, it’s not worth it. The power is more accessible with the retardation than without. I had problems with the back tire breaking loose at startups but with a TRE it’s a lot worse. I say save the ponies for when you can use them.
I have seen back to back dyno graphs for before and after TRE instiliation. In 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear there were noticible gains, of between 1bhp and a shade under 2bhp at various points througout the rev range. I do not know if this these gains can be expected after fitting on any bike with that the timing is retarded.
From my experience some people had a positive from fitting a TRE for others it appears to have messed up the bikes throttle response in some way.
You here some dummies talking of 10bhp gains
i was gonna get a TRE for my K3, but I am just getting a power commander and K&N filter instead.
