t plate gsxr 600 charging fault

hi all, i have an srad gsxr 600 (t plate), i chucked it down the road a while back, and after rebuilding it, it has developed a charging fault. On idle it puts about 11.5 volts into the battery, but when i open the throttle it drops to about 10 volts, also when i put the lights on it drops considerably. If i leave it on idle with the lights on, after about 5 minutes the dash goes nuts. I have put a second hand alternator on it, but it didnt make any difference. any ideas any one???

Ask John aka Gsxr rocker, maybe he will help.

prob reg/rec. i got a couple here if ya wanna try 1.been having probs meself, but voltage was never that low.wherebouts are you? have ya got yer old alternator?did ya chuck bike down on left hand side?also is yer battery ok?

Thanx for a feedback John.

I’ve PM’d you a charging fault diagnosis flow chart mate.

Readings that low, my money is on the windings being damaged if your off was on the LHS.

cheers mate, i’ll do the tests and see what happens??

i tried a reg/rec before changing the stator and it didnt improve, will try chunkymonkeys fault plan and then go from there.

ya sure your batteries ok?

Cheers all for your advice, turns out the connecting block between reg/rec and loom was loose, chopped it out and replaced it, its now all working fine, just a shame about the damn weather!!! :w00t:

yeah there a pain in the arse on the 600 srads, seems they all burn out at that point.
