symtec heated inserts

Can`t see the point.

they arrived today. look ok, both pads are identical unlike the symtec ones and the switch is only on or off. will let you know how the fitting goes soon

are they fitted and working yet?
any good?

i ordered the symtec ones and also the cheapo “ebay” ones ( might stick them ones on the mountain bike) but not got round to fitting them yet.
i will probally do it over xmas.

Fitted …twice.

First pair the left hand grip didn’t work, maybe installer error.

Second set is on now but when sitting in garage is ‘slightly hot’ on throttle grip and ‘almost imperceptibly warm’ on clutch side. I also made the improvement of insulating the bar on the left the second time. Unsure if I’ll be able to feel anything through gloves.

It seems the one further from the switch is warmer, so I put the switch on the throttle side. Time will tell if they’re worth even the tiny price I paid for them, will let you know when I can get out on the bike.

Sounds like the symtec ones I fitted last year, they get warm enough on high to make it worth turning them on, but that’s about all, even after I tried wiring them up direct to the battery & switching via a relay.

Mine are currently (temporarily) wired directly to the battery, so there’s no question of voltage being lost anywhere or anything like that. Will probably get the Dr Bike heated grips instead.

Ok for a slightly fairer test I started the bike and let it run for 10 minutes. This brought them to ‘warm’ on both sides. Combined with muffs this may be enough but on their own I still suspect not.

Before you write off the symtecs, here’s a trick I found. I went for the black round switch, and it doesn’t seem to like to make good first contact. I flick it on and off a few times and they get nice and toasty. Ooh err.

Before you write off the symtecs,

i thought alex was referring to the “ebay” ones not the "symtec " ones:unsure:

Yep, cheap ebay (buy cheap buy twice) for me!

Maybe, but I think KTMmartin was responding to my post about the genuine symtec ones. In response to which, they’ve been fitted for over a year & switched on/off plenty of times during that period & never reached more than moderate warmth.
