I’ve had a Bandit 1250SA (the semi-faired ABS version) since I bought it new for about £5.5k in 2007, it does about 35mpg in town, around (but sometimes well in excess of) 50mpg out of town. I don’t think that’s at all thirsty for a 1250cc bike.
62k miles and no issues beyond what you’d expect - radiator got holed a few years ago and had to replace it following an unsuccessful repair. The odd bearing and head races replaced, I’m on my 2nd replacement set of chain/sprockets, my 2nd replacement front brake disks, 1st replacement rear disk. Engine just had its first valve adjustment but still feels brand new.
The only “con” I can think of is I read recently about some Bandit 1250s suffering from starter motors coming apart, as described on this web page. I’ve not had the problem with mine and assume it’s quite a rare phenomenon, but it does apparently happen.
The big Bandit has been criticised on this forum for its weight, but I think that’s actually an advantage as the bike feels very stable on motorways and is pretty immune from sidewinds - particularly useful when overtaking lorries. Also some people refer to them as “Blandits” - they have clearly never ridden one!
It is a great bike, the engine is a joy, silky smooth with buckets of torque making riding feel as effortless or as sporty as you like. I regularly use mine for work to attend meetings as far afield as Norwich and Dorchester and it is much cheaper, more reliable (and fun!) than taking the train. My employers are delighted with it :hehe:
This forum is a great source of Bandit 1250-related advice.
They’re easy to customise. I’ve modified mine by adding an alarm (entirely unnecessary as it’s turned out  ), heated grips, sat nav mount, steel braided brake lines, Givi pannier/top box brackets, Stebel Magnum horns (which fit neatly inside the fairing), and gel seat inserts, and it’s now perfect for me.
If you buy one I doubt very much that you will be disappointed
