Suzuki DRZ-400 SM - Good first bike?

Just passed my test, always wanted a supermoto style bike

I will be using the bike for my daily commute from South London/North Kent to the City so I need something reliable

Would this be a good choice?

Thanks for your help

great little bike…great bike full stop…I have been wanting one of these for ages…met up with a couple who said they had more fun on them than on their super bikes…and they said going through traffic and doing the lanes was tons more enjoyable at much lower licence saving speeds…

Its a good choice - especially if I can practice wheelies on it ha ha

I’ll ride in to work with you, hold your hand etc

Hey AndyS3, welcome aboard! I have the enduro version of the DRZ and yes, it’s a fantastic bike and very rewarding. It’s much more fun that most people might give credit for on first glance. It’s certainly way more than the paper stats would suggest. I think this would be a great first bike.

It’s a superb city bike as it’s very high up, giving you a great view of the road around you. It’s also upright so very comfortable and very torquey, allowing you to move quickly through traffic. Your position on it also allows you to control it very, very precisely through heavy traffic, and it’s high bars mean your mirrors are not the same height as cars, making it easier to get through traffic than on a sports bike for example.

They also look very cool, especially in black

Great wee bikes, especially in London. I used to nick my exes for my commute. Great laugh and can get through gaps that scoots will baulk at.Pain in the arse out on open roads though.

Best stick to urban or twisty b roads.

Cheers for all your help/advice, all good so far! Def getting a black one

CCM 404 / R35…same basic engine as the DRZ…better bike IMHO…

if it doesnt fall apart…as CCM’s tend to do…if you want a supermoto, get a KTM…

get a ktm init ratty46:Wow: i got the lc4 supermoto & i never get off the thing:D but the drz is a very cool bike

?.?.?.?.?

Had a CCM 644DS for 3 years now…nothing fallen off it unless I crash…

The 404 is very reliable, lighter than the DRZ and has better (WP & PDS) suspension…

Had one of these Drz 400 sm model, I had it for a couple of months and grew bored of the lack of power. If your gonna go on the motorway or A roads then forget it, You will rag the arse out of it!!! But green and country lanes AWESOME!

Ktm is the way forward Imho, But go with what you feel.
