If your in S E London, try Perry Leask at HM Racing, Green Street Green, Orpington. (01689 859211)

Nothing against the others, just this guy is seriuosly good and south of the river.

If you want some basic set up stuff, have a rootle around on line. There is some good stuff out there.

Avoid the American sites. Their pretty damned good, itā€™s just they assume we all have degree in this stuff and a fully equipped workshop at our disposal.

Kwak stock settings are generally utter cr@p. Tread carefully if you are going to have a fiddle, I know plenty of people whoā€™ve taken someone elses ā€œUltimateā€ R1/R6/CBR etc setup and ended up binning it I take it you have tried the stock settings??

There are few people about - there are only 2 that have worked on my bikes and been really happy with both they are Steve Jordan @ Steve Jordan Motorcycles in Bookham Surrey - I think they are about Ā£35 for set up, and James Campbell-Wilson @ Setup Engineering, Wandsworth quite pricey, but I got a freebie :stuck_out_tongue:

Agreed! There is only one place to go and that is to see Brian: http://londonbikers.com/forums/UserInfo26.aspx

I had my suspension setup by him a few weeks ago and my P&J feels like a new bike! Well worth the money

he is the lad for you.

Erā€¦ how come there are so many ā€œonly one place to goā€, ā€œonly one guy worth seeingā€ and there all different?

Am I missing something? A major shift in the English language, perhaps?

You are not wrong Old Guy, We just followed the instructions in the manual, still wallows like a buffalo in corners and bounces like tigger on speed humps. Must be how it`s supposed to be?

For the first 20 years of my riding, I thought all bikes were like that.

Then I discovered the words Knackered, Rubbish and Suspension in the same sentence.

Now I ride a trail bike and donā€™t care.

Iā€™m in the same situation as you - well, slightly more complex as Iā€™m looking for two different setups (with and without pillion).

For starter settings, I found the following page: http://www.sportrider.com/tech/146_suspension_settings/index4.html

If your bike is on there, maybe that might be a good place to start? Of course, now Iā€™m trying to understand if they mean anything different when they say
"0.5 turn out from full stiff "
and
ā€œ0.5 turn outā€

Life was so much easier before suspension became adjustable. You got what you bought and that was pretty much the end of things.

I blame the people that started getting the shocks off other bikes with stiffer damping and then started shimming/grinding off/changing the springs.

Silly sods, all of us.

yeh its on stock settings now,ive had the bike from new and yeh worrid incase i fu?k it up,think ill let a shop ave ago its just to harsh wiv stock settings thanks tho mate. :hehe:
