What is the black rat?
the ‘Black Rat’, is the ‘unofficial’ traffic police divison emblem.
i believe it has something to do with the black rat being the only animal that will eat it’s only family which equates to a traffic officer having no compassion.
it may of started that Met traffic were called black rats but they are certainly known by this name in my force.
