Stupid rear shock bolt

Battling with this stupid bolt for days. It the one holding the shock, I just can’t get it to shift out the other side

I’ve soaked it with wd40, made sure the is no weight on the shock (the top bolt came out easily) but no joy.

How is it secured? What’s stuck?
Have you applied any heat to it?
I could come and bring some tools and try and help?

So you’re telling us that you’re being outsmarted by a stupid bolt? :upside_down_face:

Sounds like it’s seized either in the swinging arm (it looks to be directly mounted to it, rather than via linkages?), or the mounting bush in the shock, Can you actually get the bolt to turn? If not, it’ll be the swinging arm. You could then try shocking it free with an impact wrench, assuming there’s enough room to get one on the bolt head.

WD40 isn’t a penetrating oil, try using a proper one like Plus Gas first.

Looks like it would be tricky to get any useful intensity of heat into it without causing at least some cosmetic damage to the arm. So if it is seized in the shock bush, brute force is likely to be the answer.

Yeah it’s in the swingarm.
I can’t rotate the bolt so I also assume it’s lodged in.
Will get me some penetrating stuff thanks for the suggestion

What’s the other side look like? Just a bolt head?

And what year is your bike?

Otherside is a hole you can fit an Allen key in to keep the bolt from rotating (mine won’t rotate)
Bike is a 09

Part number 7 has rusted and the bearings won’t let go. Bounce up and down on the seat to try and initiate a twisting motion to it and part 2 now that the nut isn’t holding it tight.

Also bear in mind you’re going to need to replace the two #8’s as well as #7.
