I know that if a bike is kept outside it should at the very least be covered. Thing is I am using my bike (YZF600R Thundercat) nearly everyday, and I am sure if I start needing to go through covering/uncovering everyday, especially in the cramped space it’s in (so it can be locked to somthing solid), I will definitely use the bike less. I do however cover it when I know it’s not going to be used for more than a week (travelling, snow, etc.)
What do you guys think. Is this really a no no and it should be covered at all time (used or not), or is it ok? Is there anything I should be looking out for or maintenance I should perform more than usual?
I would at the very least cover her up, however I do sympathise with putting the cover on and off daily, its likely to pickup debree and get dirty quite quickly and quite frankly its a pain in the arse.
So if your not going to cover her up Id protect her from the elements with products like
FS365 Scottoiler anti corrosion spray
ACF-50 again anoth anti corrosion spray
WD40 good old fail safe that helps prevent furring and rust.
The above is a must if its going to left outside in these conditions.
Also bear in mind that a cover also helps lower theft risk.
Actually security is less of a concern. It’s parked right in front of a the guardian’s office window, which is manned 24h and they all know me. On top of that it’s chained to a massive pillar with an Almax chain (reason why it’s a bit fiddly to cover) and the alarm goes off if you stare at it for too long.
If they steal it (fingers crossed) they deserve it… (just joking… please don’t try…)

How about the AFC-50 and the WD40 where should I apply this. Can I assume that everything under the fairings is fine? Apart from the chain, what should I particularly pay attention to?
just chuck a cover on it, only takes 30 seconds to stop ya pride n joy getting maky in this weather, I cover mine everyday rain or shine nowt worse than 4am start clearing snow n frost off ya seat before moving

You should pay attention to not getting either on the discs.
Oil cooled engines are o.k., but oil cooled brakes aint that great an idea.
Where to use it? Pretty much everywhere except brake discs, saddle, footpegs and hand grips. And “no” you cant assume the stuff under the fairing is o.k.
I leave my trusty Bros outside in all weather, uncovered, and with none of these products…other than lubing the chain and keeping the oil levels topped up I haven’t done anything to her in 2 years!!
I don’t see any corrosion though, so are these strictly necessary?
