Stinky Boots.

My Alpinestars SMX-4 Boots have taken on a rather distinctive odour. They are the waterproof version which I suppose means they don’t let moisture out very well. I have tried soaking the inside and insole with Febreze but the smell won’t budge. Does anyone have any good tips to get them smelling like a field of daisies again? Thanks.

Sneaker balls (e.g. http://www.runnersworld.ltd.uk/acatalog/Sneaker-Balls.html) seem to work fairly well for me when used regularly.
Don’t expect miracles though

Just conducting an experiment this week with some anti-odour insoles - will let you know the results.

i once heard that if you put them in a plastic bag, and stick them in freezer, it gets rid of bad odours

wash your feet more and change your sox twice a day lol:D

Both Steve Wright and Westie are right, also use talcon powder in the boots, that’ll soak up the sweat and make them smell less pungent.

dont stick ur nose in em

thanks for the responses, I’ve bought some odour eaters so will see how that goes.

I have very good foot hygiene I’ll have you know. The boots have gotten soaked a few times in the rain and taken ages to dry out, this hasn’t helped the problem any.

Wasn’t there a bloke on dragons den who got backing for a machine that stopped stuff smelling? He was going to get them installed in some gyms and chiropodists (sp) amongst other places … but the technology worked to kill the bacteria that makes stuff pong … even worked on a block of cheese :w00t:

Scholl odour control shoe spray:

Prevents bacteria growth in the material and to some extent gets rid of whats there with repeated application. Only use it on trainers myself but have found if you use it from new and spray every time you take them off they stay smelling new…its good stuff but make sure you get the shoe spray not the foot spray. Available in boots or most supermarkets.

After disinfecting them to kill the bacteria, allow to dry for a day then fill them with (fresh unused) cat litter and leave them for 2-3 days.
