still looking for an IT job. really unhappy where I am

started where i am now at the end of july after my redundancy in april.

i got the job doing CAD through someone i know down the sailing club. its not ideal and the boss is a nasty peice of work.

its a long way for me to go. its in chingford so i have to get up at 6am every day to get here for 8am. finish at 5pm. its a glazing firm and i do the drawings for them. everyone always seems stressed and theres a bad atmosphere here in the air, its like a warehouse type building. the “office” is so very noisy, temps are wither too warm or too cold. lots of deadlines and pressure to meet. the relationship between the person i know and me i feel is being afected by the stresses at work, i just want to know him outside work where he is more approachable. the main guy in charge is always swearing, its like being on a building site all the time. the money isnt bad thoguh £25k. Still on trial period till end of oct. but i saw myself the last few years in IT which i DO enjoy. and that would give me the office environment i wanted. im not sure how im goign to get here when the weather is too bad for using the bike. i did get a cheap car a month ago but found out the clutch has gone and so has the bushes on the suspension. so i cannot use than now. will likley scrap it.

not had any good luck this year, been one bad thing after another!

so lookign to get into an IT job earning from£21k PA. Ideally near home in Dartford. but i will travel to london if necessary. I have 5+ years of experience in IT but no actual qualifications as the trainign company i used in 08 went bust and vanished takign my course fees with them.

what IT agencies are good? im on linkedin but i hate it. also am on monster but never hear back when i sent my applications. seem useless.

i have many monthly bills to pay too of course.

mate,

IM your details, place I used to work for are looking for staff. depeneds on what side of IT you were doing.

offering what you are looking for, will be based in the london office gonig to client sites after a few months getting to know the company.

Woozy, send me your CV. I’ll give you my work email address if you send me a PM.

We might have something here (WC1) depending on your skill set.

Sorry to hear you’re not getting on well in your job buddy…

The similar sort of thing happened to me (although not half as bad as your situation sounds)… So I just threw in the towel last week, it was a great feeling.

Have you thought about going self-employed maybe? I imagine there’s always a need for CAD somewhere or other in London… Maybe sign up to an agency perhaps?

You’ve spent a lot of words saying what you don’t want and only two letters saying what you do. When you say “an IT job” what do you want? Cleaning mouse balls, debugging filesystem drivers or something in between?

sounds uncomfortable being stuck between “mouse balls” and “debuggering drivers” lol

sounds better than the job I had on the Pipex helpdesk.
