stator fail

Whoops, out and about Sunday and I had to resort to a bump start :frowning:

Made it back home and found the battery had just 11.9v of charge in it, started the engine at 1200 revs no change, revved it to 5,000 no change, no charging battery remained at 11.9v :frowning:

Next test stator output to ground - short :frowning:

So the choices are West Country Windings (bad reviews lately), M&P, Wemoto don’t list a 2006 CBF 1000A, any other suggestions or recommendations?

David Silver ?
I’am sure you probably know already John but…Part Number 31120MFAD02.
About 300 quid Inc vat.
Don’t know any rewinders mate. …maybe some ads in the Classic bike mags etc.
Hope you get it sorted …Cheers

Have you tried Scorch?

ISTR he posted about fixing one a couple of years back.

West Country Windings are your men! In your neck of the woods too

http://www.westcountrywindings.co.uk/

I’ve never had a problem with west crountry windings
Found them very helpful

Try electrexworld. I’ve got their stator and reg/rec on my old FireBlade. No problems.

Electrex world…131 quid… mmmm.
Under half price from the genuine article.
Very tempting indeed.

I bought an electrex r/r once and it melted

IIRC it was a triumph 995 engine stator that scorch rewound, it put out better performance than the old one too

Triumph Sprint 1050

Thanks for the feed back

I’m leaning towards M&P at £97.99 including delivery http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CBF1000-2008-Replacement-Replica-Generator-Stator-/131952717524?hash=item1eb8feaed4:g:hA4AAOSwLF1X6qoY that is for a 2008 I’m sure the 2006 is the same pattern, I’ll give them a ring to be sure to be sure.

Failing M&P the Electrex World stator http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000001.pl?WD=cbf1000&PN=G112%2ehtml#SID=41?aG112 at £114.00

I’ve heard West Country Windings http://www.westcountrywindings.co.uk/services.htm will charge £150.00 for their service, I’ll give them a call all the same.

I remember following Scorch’s exploits rewinding his Triumph’s stator. From memory he did the job twice. The first ‘practice run’ he needed to improve on the winding technique, the second winding although successful proved to be a labour of love due to the time involved. If only I had the patience to follow his example and do it myself.

Ordered from M&P at £95.99 http://www.mandp.co.uk/honda-cbf1000-06-12-generator-stator-electrosport.html

Awaiting Mr Postman (Jim)

We'll deliver your M&P parcel on Monday 12th June

When exactly? Your 1 hour time slot is created as soon as your driver has loaded your parcel onto their van, this is usually by 11:00.

That’ll be DPD Craig then

Sorted - 12.9v at the battery, 13.5v on tickover, 14.1v at 3,000 revs.

I have one of these fitted to both the gsxr and the F and have used one on my bikes for about 7 years now
Keeps me informed it’s if drops I know I have a problem

Yes. I was looking at those, very popular with other CBF owners.

Question is would I need one with the new stator?

I would say no you don’t but
Who knows what could happen
Being a former triumph owner and a current GSXR owner both bikes eat there sators and regs frequently I just like to know what’s going on and for a few shekels it’s a no brainer
If I get a low charge reading it’s lights off and head for home. There Is nothing worse than sitting by the side of a road in the pissing rain waiting for a tow truck

Where did you fit this on the GSXR, pics please.
