Starcom or autocom ?????

Thinking of buying an intercom system for pillion and myself, dont want to spend mega bucks, but would like to hear whats being said.

Looking at the auto com 200 duo kit currently half price at 100 quid, or the starcom advance system, retails about 160.

If you have any comments on these systems let me know.

Had Starcom for a few years now and very happy

I’ve had the Autocom system for a few years now and I’m on my third kit. The first kit was on my Gixer that was stolen (subsequent Gixer was then fitted with another Autocom system) and then I “upgraded” the system last year to the newer one. My wife and I both ride bikes and it’s great for us to chat away to each other, but from time to time when she has to jump on my bike then we can just use the rider to pillion functionality. The newer system with the auto adjusting volume control is a must and when listening to your MP3 player or similar around town the volume is nice and quiet.

We also have friends who use the same kit and I believe they’ve never had any problems with it. If you do want to look at getting a system then phone Autocom up and ask to speak to Rich or Paul as they’ll be able to help you out.

I just get whacked on the back of my crash hat:D

Busa55 is the man to ask as he has used both

Got an Autocom but if I was buying again I would more than likely go with Starcom.

All though to be honest I’m not to sure I would bother at all.

You might want to consider this new Dainese helmet… though more expensive than the options you have mentioned so far.

Have a look at this post:

I’ve got Starcom1 with which I replaced my Autocm in order for compatability with what my partner’s got.

The Starcom is more comprehensive but both worked well.

I’m very tempted by the latest Starcom but can’t justify the expense - the remote control is the icing on the cake.

i think i would go for a starcom, ive read a lot of good reviews and also on price it seems very fair…

Thanks for the info I’ll trackdown Busa55.

I got tired of getting a punch to the head, how can I be expected to concentrate at 130+, at least the intercom allows me to engage selective hearing.

what for sitting in garage making brumm brumm noises ? cos ya never out on bike

These two you mention, are they wireless? Myself I got two Interphone Bluetooth sets, you can buy extra ‘headsets’ and brackets so you can actually fit up 2, 3 or 4 different helmets, but then use the same 2 Bluetooth reciever units with them.

I think for a pair you’re probably looking around £240, but they are great. It’s hard up over 60mph, but you can pretty much tell what the person is saying. The added benefit is, when using just your own helmet, you can patch your phone or satnav into your helmet
