I really don’t understand how you could be confused between the air filter and the steering damper :ermm:

There’s a very simple rule with all things mechanical, if you don’t know what your doing then don’t

If you lack the competence to remove the air filter my guess is you’ll lack the competence to inspect it. Get yourself a decent workshop manual and have a good read, maybe also pop along to the OMC for some first class professional advise and help.

Lee Ball, PM me your year of R6 and I’ll try to help you. I think I know whats causing the confusion. I’ve got a 13S R6 (the latest shape).

the damper bracket is connected to the tank bolt that i need to take off

take a photo and post it on here then we’ll know what you’re talking about

i have circled the part i mean, there are no visable bolts let to remove

thanks

lee

yeah, undo that one.

all undone but still cant get it off

That gold bolt goes straight through the air box cover, and this is what will be the start of getting access to the air box. You must then take off the tank side panels and unscrew the tank bolts, hinge it back and BING!

To get the damper off, then reference starter button (in the pic) and theres a bolt above it, unscrew that.

If none of this advice helps, then please post a pic with all of what you’ve unscrewed
