sporty tyre choice for the VFR

as title says, in 120/70 front and 170/60 rear. I usually go for Avon angel ST’s or road pilot CT2’s but I want something a bit sportier and stickier. don’t mind if the warm up time is a longer than usual. any suggestions?

vfr’s like bridgestones fact  i think even the 021/023’s are sporty enough for on the road ,tho i might be putting 016’s on because they are surplus to requirements on another set of rims

no-one else got a suggestion?

Just buy one of these… :stuck_out_tongue:

do the pr3’s come in your size? they’re as sporty as the ct2’s and better in the wet. i use em on track days

@ op you could always fit a modified vfr800 rear wheel and have the choice of a 180 tyre …most modern rubber is upto the job through all the R&D that goes into making them…a matching pair and sufficient tread with the right pressures and a reasonably set up bike. any fresh tyres are going to feel good.softer compounds have their plus points in certain conditions but work best when your riding hard,a good all round tyre be it 021 or pr3’s as most on here suggest will do you fine.

dont follow the crowd work out what suits your pocket and riding requirements

Square profile ones so the bike stays upright?

Pr3 is hardly a sportier tyre to the 2ct it’s just plain touring.

Got for the softer bridgestones or more towards a set of Pirelli’s

If your not too fussed about mileage then the dunlop sport smarts. Most you’ll get is a 4Kish range at best.

I had the 2ct on the gsr and noticed better grip on the pr3’s. might be different with over 100bhp

Thinking I’ll go for the Pirelli Angel ST’s at the moment. had them on the fazer and they were great

I had a pair of Angels put on my VFR last year, I hated the front so much, I took it back to FWR, they checked the fitting and the balance, no problems, over the next few months I put in new fork oil, had the front bearings checked, put a new rear shock on, still the bike handled like ****.

Last month I took the bike to another tyre shop, I put on a equivalent milage secondhand Metsler.

And I now have my bike back.

I would not touch a pair of Angels for a VFR at any cost.

PS.

The only reason I went for the Angels was a friend had fitted them to his VFR and said he liked them, when I saw him a month later and said how much I hated the front he said he had already got rid of them because he also had issues with them.

Bob

worthy notes, cheers bob

Why do you need sportier tyres than 2CTs anyway?

Tyres are all personal preference

2004 Vfr 800 vtec running angel std’s and I fecking loved them ask truebrit it’s his bike and he’s right on the edge of them all the time.

I don’t commute on the bike anymore, only use it at weekends etc so stickyness is more important than longevity for me now

Any tyre you can buy is sticky enough for road riding, 2CTs will do for a track day, if you’re racing you might need softer.

I agree Shiver, in my case I am sure the front was a duff tyre, but it has put me off of them well and truly.
