Never snapped one, my previous R6, R1 & current R1 have never had a problem plus all the ones moved whilst in the trade!
He must have been doing it wrong!
I’ve been told off by Matt at OMC for having done that because the stand on my bike (like many Ducs) is attached to the engine…
So you might wanna check something like that first!
Right, been chatting to a few folk, and the consensus seems to be, NEVER spin a Ducati or an MV, or in fact any other bike where the stand is mounted to the block, like mine. If its mounted to the frame, much less of a problem, but still worth being careful. I haven’t had the belly pan off yet to see of the engine case is cracked, but regardless I’m gonna give spinning on the stand a miss on this bike from now on.
Initially had reservations about doing this with my heavy 230kg Bandit 1250, for fear of breaking or bending the sidestand or mounting arrangement. My concerns turned out to be unfounded and I do this on a regular basis in the knowledge that Suzuki sidestands are clearly built of some unbreakable material like carbon nanotubes
It’s one thing I never attempt after having a side stand mount break on a Triumph, and bending a busa stand just using a lube stick. I have tried it with the FJR with little success. It may look very cool outside the ACE but it’s not for me never really seen the need for it. Beware a lot of bikes are mounting there stands on the engine rather than the frame.
