In 4 years of riding this morning was the first time I’ve got tugged for speeding. Lady luck was on my side though and I walked a free man, I WILL be buying a Lottery ticket today as well.
4 lanes wide, and they are on the other side of the road nicking some bloke in a clearing unroadworthy car, good on them for that. They here me coming up the road (1st gear out of the lights) and one of the coppers runs across the road and jumps out in front me, and pulls me over.
The usual patronishing speech goes on, whilst the other one shouts across the road “you fcukin idiot, what the fcuk is that about!!” - nice copper, nice ‘n’ rude!
Anyway I ignore him, I will never wind a copper up even with that attitude. I just stand there and eat humble pie.
But then he says to me “that he can guess the speed I was doing and throw the book at me, and I could be going to court right now but because he’s busy I should thank myself lucky”
Can he?? Would that stand up in Court?? A guesstimate with his word against mine??
Bit annoyed with myself for doing it to be honest, not proud of won’t justify it. I’m just curious about what he said, from what I can see its just scare tactics - which don’t work in my book.
A cop did the same sort of thing in Auckland afew years back, stepped out in front of a women in a car, she had to skid to a stop, this was witnessed by a lawyer and after a letter was sent to the old bill for this lawyer the cop in question was booted off the force…
something to think about…
I did think about that as I had to stop pretty sharpish. Problem is the limit was a 30mph, having to stop with difficulty would only have proved I was speeding.
He was an angry little man, when he stepped out he was waving his arms and snarling at me. I could see, not actually hear, the explitives coming from his mouth already
He’s proberly just a sad little man with a tiny D#*k that his wife laughts at, so i wouldn’t worry about him.
next time dnt stop hes only on foot he will move out the way.
DROP IT DOWN A GEAR AND DISSAPEAR
His opinion is legally worthless, thats why speed guns need to be calibrated . . .
The snarling was due to lack of calibrated speed gun
Charges like careless/dangerous driving are down to his opinion though, so be nice
One [traffic officer] heard me approaching the other day, A30, dual carriageway, 50 limit, 2and gear opening up, std exhaust, just waved his hand downwards to say slow down a bit. The only one I have had a chat to [road rage nonsense in town, bike copper] now waves at me ! that’s scary . .
LOL, my thoughts exactly
Sounds like you were lucky mate, don’t gripe, he was right to stop you, and you know it! For sure, he would need formal evidence to prosecute, as it was, he just wanted to scare you and slow you down.
Gixer101, how can he knock down a gear when he was in first? Want him to put it in neutral and scare him with the rev-limiter? hehe…
Jay, I’ve got no gripes (apart from their attitude), he was right to do so and it taught me a lesson - atleast for tomorrow anyway
I was VERY lucky
I’m not one for running anyway either unless I know 100% I can do so, too paranoid of reprocussions if I do get caught eventually.
They don’t need speed guns for careless/wreckless/dangerous driving, just a witness and his word is ALWAYS gonna beat yours in court.
Count yourself lucky, buy a shedload of lottery tickets and don’t forget us when you score bigtime!!
If we push our luck, we’ll get caught eventually.
Have to agree with Andrew on this one Mate you was very lucky and i think the next drinks are on you HAHA
unlucky savoury. two police officer’s opinion that you were speeding is sufficient enough. no gun or other device required.
however, in this case, because he said, “because he’s busy I should thank myself lucky,” you are O.K. im sure, unless they decide to lie, and say they gave you a verbal NIP(notice of intended prosecution).
if they do, you are stuffed because there are two of them.
I guess they could, a court is more likely to take their word against mine. But they can’t prove what level of ‘speeding’ it was so I guess 3 or 6 points & a fine is the most anyone could expect.
I was lucky, thats all there was to it. Not justifying it, not looking for a way out (dont need one) and it was a slower ride to work today
Didn’t win the Lottery though
You dont know how to ride slow, never seen it yet even in the car park
Is there a speed limit in the car park then
