This project started out as a garage clear out when my son said that there must be enough parts to build a bike.So taking stock I had a 888 engine with SP3 cams in it, 888 full loom and ECU, wheels, ohlins forks, yokes, clip-ons,new Maxton rear shock built to my weight, calipers, high rise pipes and full spag system and full floating discs and tank. All iI needed was a frame and seat unit. My son made suggested a Cafe Racer and to use a 1098 lomm and ECU to reduce weight. I decided to build it with a daytime MOT in mind so I would do away with lighta and indicators as well. I bought a 1995 Monster frame and a rear seat unit with the intention of having the battery, fuse box, relays and starter solonoid under the seat hump. This is the start…
Very nice!
If Frankenstein rode a bike it would be a Monster!
Great stuff.
My son made me some new and stronger engine mounting bolts and drilled some gears to lighten them…
I have to get the gears dynamicaly balanced before fitting…
Cobbled up undertray and holder for battery to go under seat hump…
Some judicious hand work with a drill, hacksaw and some files to assist with cooling of the clutch…
Cover
clutch casing
and together.
As I’m using a 1098 loom and ECU, the speedo reading is taken from the rear disc bolts so I had to source a rear caliper bracket from an ST4s which has the mount to take the sensor…
But the 851 rear axle is 17mm and the ST4s is 25mm, so my son made a bush to reduce to 17mm and provide the correct spacing to the swingarm…
That looks very smart work. What did it look like before?
See the top pic…the one with the felt tip blob as the slot was elongated as well.
Oh yes. That’s a really good job!
Also got some HEL brake and clutch billet master cylinders, very nice quality…
That’s a bit pornographic
Dont go getting your keyboard all sticky… …
